There'll be gnashing of teeth and rending of garments after GS kicks a 47 yard field goal with 3 seconds left for a 30-28 win. We have recruited a voodoo witch that will be placing a hex on LSU Friday evening. We're not coming just to pick up a check.
10-3 and a bowl win was impressive for us following a 2-10 campaign the year before with a terrible coach. The offense started slow with a mostly freshman O-line last year, a new scheme on offense, and a new OC to boot. Our opening game against Clemson had us in many 3 and outs so their offense stayed on the field most of the day. Still, our defense dug in when it mattered, despite giving up a ton of yards. We progressed well as the season went on, destroying App, but were banged up against Troy, our 1st loss to them since we entered FBS in 2014. We're still a little young, but we have a year of experience coming back. Our defense played well in spurts and should be even better this year. Our offense was lacking last year and is finally starting the season with the same scheme plus a few added wrinkles, so I think we'll give you a better game than you think.

Excuse me, Texas State and Arkansas State. Just proves my point on how the distance + insignificance of the opponent makes most fans not care. And you can’t deny that the program was more fun to watch and follow when we were playing in the Socon. UGA won’t schedule Southern anymore, and the other games are just one offs- no real rivalry development besides State. I know they are trying to push the Coastal Carolina thing- but it feels forced.

1st off, you know nothing and should be embarrassed trashing your former school just because you want to suckle on the teat of an SEC school. Obviously you don't know who we play or you'd know that App State is our biggest rival, followed by Troy, Arkansas State and the rivaly with gagstate is still in it's infancy. In fact, App was ranked in the top 25 when we demolished them at Paulson last year in a well attended Thursday nationally televised night game. I've been a true blue eagle fan since Erk Russell was introduced as head coach in 1981 and now that we're FBS, we're getting larger crowds, better recognition and opportunities to go to bowl games. After going to FBS, we finally broke the attendance record set in the 1989 National Championship game held in Statesboro(never did it in the 25 years following that game as an FCS team), and we've taken several larger programs to the wire. When we finally break through and start beating larger programs regularly, you'll want to hop back on the GS bandwagon. Now, as far as "fun to watch" we'll be travelling en masse to Baton Rouge. You sure wouldn't see crowds like we'll be bringing at Maine or Delaware even if it were the FCS playoffs. The Citadels, Furmans, and Woffords are behind us now. App State, (sometimes)Troy, Arkansas State and us ARE Sunbelt football now, get used to it.
Awesome info. I'm getting the picture. Thanks!
Tailgating before the game, I was hoping to stream ESPN and watch a little football during tailgating and I was wondering how the service is in and around the stadium. We're in lot 404. Is wifi available or would I have to stream with my cellular data? Any bottlenecks?

Our AP did play for the Bears FWIW. Set all sorts of NCAA rushing records, won the Walter Payton award, starred in this video in the National Championship game in 1999.

Please do your best. Don't cut us any breaks or take any plays off. Give us your best shot because when we pull the upset, you'll have nothing of which to be ashamed. As long as you did your best, that's all that matters, right?

We're coming from South Georgia, so I guess I'd better get the kids better bring their heavy jackets.

Hey TigerLunatik, you're a smart man and I know why. Your probably wish you could be just like your avatar pic Danny McBride. I'm sure you idolize and look up to old Danny. Interestingly enough, Danny was born in Statesboro, Georgia- home of Georgia Southern. That's great and all, but just think, after next Saturday, you'll be idolizing and looking up to ALL of us in Statesbro. :dude: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Unfortunately LSU plays scared against Bama for some reason. LSU will not take this game lightly.

If you can remember back when GSU was FCS, under head coach Monken, now at Army, GSU played Bama we made them look bad also. In that year GSU had more yards and put up more points against Bama than any SEC team did that year against BAMA. Bama's head coach made the mistake of putting in their 2nd and third string in the 3rd. In the 4th Bama put their first string offense back in. With under 30 seconds to go with a 1st down on GSUs 10 yard line he went for the TD and got it. He wanted to pad the score. I do not hold this against Bama. It is up to the defense to stop the opposing offense and if the opposing offense can score than they should!

Talon, we scored more points in 1 game vs Alabama than LSU scored in two games against Alabama that year.
10 pages in on this thread, so let's begin the countdown.

10 days until LSU loses their first game, drops from the rankings, and eventually ends up playing in a meaningless bowl against some mid level ACC team.

HAIL SOUTHERN!
Nope, didn’t restart football until ‘81

Tech would beat GSU

Soooo let me get this right. Your winning team is the team that beat South Alabama 30-26, not the team that beat South Alabama 48-13 in a conference game? Okie dokie. Makes sense to me. That's the only common opponent we had, but yeah...
What time should we arrive to partake in the festivities Saturday? I'd like to know because some of my crew are planning on going to Bourbon Street Friday night and are being whiny about leaving early Saturday morning..

Had to do some actual work the last several hours, but I thought I 'd come back and read some of the comments. First off, the heat and gnats are what we're used to in Southeast Georgia, so it's "home game weather" for us. As far as food goes, I hear yall do it up right, and I can't wait to hang out with a few of your finer fans. Jerks? Yes we have them just like you do. If you run across any of our brethren acting the fool, find us and we'll do our best to fix the problem. Kids can be idiots, for either fanbase. In the meantime, we're excited about coming to play LSU. Being a big school for so long, you may not understand our excitement, but all of these "FBS big stage" games and atmospheres are new and exciting to us. That said, it's all fun and games until we tee it up, then we will play to win. Most of us feel we have don't have a prayer, but I think we have a puncher's chance if LSU aint ready to play. Our kids will be sky high for this one, because well, it's the next one and because it's mighty LSU.
As far as 60 points, we’re not bringing a slouchy defense. That was the old GS. Out score’em was out philosophy. We’ve still got a potent enough offense to score points, but we’re more of a ball control, play sound defense, make the other team screw up
