What is the family issue with LSU?
They have NO issue with LSU. Guys, I am a lifelong LSU fan who bleeds purple and gold. In the same situation - a kid with a possible brilliant future at QB but who needs great development in college - there is no way I would have sent my kid to LSU. LSU was shitty at developing QBs. By the time Saban made a name for himself Eli was already at Ole Miss.
That family is going to strongly advise Arch to go to one of the schools that has a stable offensive coordinator who is a great teacher of the skills they think will compliment Arch’s style. If LSU is one of those schools LSU will be on their approved list. In other words, they love their kid more than any school - as they should.

Peyton and Josh Booty wer ein the class of 1993 and Booty committed to LSU so Peyton immediately looked elsewhere.
I doubt this had much to do with it. Peyton was in a freshman class with a hot shot. His name was Brandon Stewart, and he was one of the top QB recruits in the country.

Isn’t his dad a high up for entergy headquarters in New Orleans?

Oh I believe HE would definitely listen.
Yep even Peyton took a official to LSU and had them listed but that was just being respectful to his home state. There was no way in hell that he was going to LSU even if Curly hadn't been the coach.

LSU crushed Ole Miss and Archie 61-17 back in 1970 when Archie played with his broken arm in a cast. LSU just relentlessly pummeled him and Archie never got over that arse whipping.
This is completely not true. LSU had nothing but respect for Archie having lost the previous 2 years to him and Ole Miss and respected that he was playing with such a injury. LSU's defense went out of their way not to destroy him or try to further hurt him when it could have been easy to do so. This was so evident that Archie's Mom wrote a letter to Charlie Mac thanking him and his team for not taking advantage of the situation.

The Manning’s aren’t stupid people. The kid will go to the school that the family thinks is the best for him. LSU is a much better program than it was when Eli and Peyton came out of high school.

LSU is a better program now than when Saban was at LSU?

The Manning have and will never go to LSU. Archie’s hates LSU, as he should.
It's not Archie's decision and I doubt if his grandson wanted to play for LSU he would mind. Ole Miss fans were super pissed when Peyton chose Tenn but that's what he wanted.

This will seem petty, but I don’t like the kid. Coached against him for baseball this summer and he’s an arrogant turd
If you don’t cite some examples, it’s petty

Time to bring in Cutcliffe

Once again, I know this is a forum and I am all for free speech, but sometimes I read this site and just shake my head. Who are the grown men and women who are the kids?
If a kid has talent, then it's the coaches' job to convince them why coming to LSU is in their best interest, it's the parents' job to advise them to go to the school that is in their best interest, and it's the kid's job to choose the school in their best interest and follow that up with choices that put them into a position to succeed. If they have a bad attitude or any other deficiencies, that needs to be identified and addressed by any or all of the above.
Hopefully all of this speculation amuses the family more than anything. The fact that they thoughtfully do what they think is best for their own should only be seen as a good thing. If Arch is the real deal, then let the recruiting battle begin. I like our chances.

I cannot imagine the hype this kid will have by the time he graduates from HS.
Class of 2023?

Payton said FU to OM....so why wouldn’t Arch? It’s all about the best situation for these kids.

I played baseball against Peyton. Only shortstop that ever turned 2 on me. His arm at shortstop surprised me.

I played vs Peyton many times in baseball, in district and in summer ball. I thought his arm from ss would have been better honestly. It wasn’t weak, but definitely not a frozen rope.
