10 years ago they had:

1. Oklahoma
2. USC
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
5. Nebraska

6. Alabama

(funny how 10 years changes things)

Texas is 3rd all time in wins and 6th in winning percentage (unless you count Boise with a small sample size). They have 4 nattys...I feel like they ranked appropriately. Who would you put them behind?

Def. Before Saban Alabama was considered by the media as a dead former powerhouse, like Nebraska is viewed today.

People knew Saban would win at Bama but 7 national title games in 10 years with 5 wins is never happening again for anyone.

Saban was supposed to never sniff Bryant at Alabama either. He only did it in less time.

Without digging back to the numbers, I wonder why Notre Dame warrants a move from 4-2 over Oklahoma and Ohio State. OSU has had an undefeated season in addition to the first CFP title, plus another appearance. Oklahoma has maintained a strong team since the 00’s. ND has done what to surpass them?

Bama and OU are interchangeable at 1&2, then Texas, USC, and ND. I have no idea what Michigan is doing on that list.

No they didn't. Bama was 1-3 in every ESPN/SI etc alltime ranking from the 90s until Saban

Saban took Bama from arguably the GOAT to no debate about it

Nebraska and Tennessee haven't been relevant in over a decade and a half. Get fricked

And they are still an all-time top 10 program

Nebraska from 1971-2001 will keep them in the top 10 for a while.

I would not have Penn State ahead of LSU

The only thing they have on LSU is more wins, but they have played a patsy of a schedule historically

Here is a sample schedule from the old independent Penn State years

Temple
RUtgers
Ohio State
Tcu
smu
Kentucky
Syracuse
West Virginia
Maryland
Nc state

None of the FL programs were relevant until the 80s though.

For all-time, Nebraska should be ahead of Michigan and it’s not really a debate honestly.
