Cousins has a personal history with NO fans, hence the attitudes toward his injuries.
He went out of his way to be an a-hole last season as the Pels were going through turmoil, so the fans have been giving it right back to him since his torn quad during the playoffs.

You'd have to be naive as hell to think that sports reveals anything particularly meaningful or previously unknown about human nature, but keep white knighting if it makes you feel better.

Cousins’ whole situation is tied in with injuries and how the Pels thought he should recover from them, which is why it isn’t limited to his play.
He was basically offered $20m to rehab for a season and got insulted it wasn’t max money, setting off his dumbass plan to get a ring for the taxpayer MLE ($5m) while insulting the Pels at every chance he got.
And the end result is a net loss of at least $11m ($20m potential salary minus $5m from GS and $4m from Lakers), no ring, and an ACL and a quad injury he likely wouldn’t have gotten if he hadn’t tried to rush his way back.
Normally injuries are over the line for jeering but this dumbass basically caused two of them by not listening to sound advice and attacking the people who gave that advice to him.
