You learned this on the Rant because it was said about Miles for so long, didn't you?

Ok...so explain how it matters who calls the plays!

You won't impress someone by showing you can run a good offense at a school with less talent? This makes absolutely no sense
when has Kansas had an impressive offense? They get crushed every week.
I would hand the reigns to the guy in the second half vs NSU and see what he can do. If he does well, give him a little more responsibility as the season goes on.

with this attitude, whats it matter who the head coach is?
who is in charge of in game strategy is a pretty substantial topic/concern for fans. If you dont care, move along...

When Mark Mangino was the coach. Do you remember when he was all the rage because he made Kansas a national headline?

Why are you latching on to Kansas?
My point is that most coaches show they can do their thing (whether it's calling plays, being a head coach or whatever) at smaller or less prominent programs before moving on to the big boys. Most top notch programs aren't big on being a proving ground for inexperienced coaches. Maybe that's what we're doing though. And maybe it will work out well.

IMO, Kansas was looking for an established head coach that could recruit and perhaps chamge the culture there for 2 to 3 year, then go out for a younger coach that could stay and would want to stay longer. Right now, they don't have much to sell to a head coach.

Kansas averaged over 40pts and 490 yards per game in 2007. IIRC, they were consistently good on offense when he was there.

i dont know why we're arguing about Kansas
but go look at any OC for the top 10-15 programs. they all pretty much start as an OC at smaller schools before jumping up to the big boys.
Brady going from NFL OA to 'Co-OC' as you call him, is a HUGE jump in paid grade. And, one that most teams dont make. Maybe it works, but its definitely out of the ordinary, like most things that O does.

My own guess is:
Ensminger will call the plays.
Brady, in my opinion, is revamping the playbook, and modernizing (or adding in the Saints influence) into each play.
I suspect that Ensminger will have sheets of plays for inside runs, outside runs, play-action passes, screens, routes with double moves, etc. These sheets will be primarily crafted by Brady, but Ensminger will be the guy choosing each play.
It's like a racing team. Ensminger will remain the driver, but Brady is upgrading the car.
Ensminger will call the plays.

Recent trend shows that waiting your turn isn’t so much the case anymore; coaches, especially offensive minded coaches, are being accelerated thru the ranks rather quickly. An arms race is happening; get those guys before your competitor. And in some cases find a HC that can call a game because your good OC is just going to get poached

Yes, he certainly does, and his unconditional love for the guy is what cost us last season. With a top-notch OC last season, we would've gone 11 & 1 and made the playoff.
literally no way of knowing this.

Well that was my idea from the beginning.
I was in favor of bringing in Lincoln Riley as HC when he was an OC for OU but our fans thought we were too good for him.

He will be our OC next season
Would be an absolute joke
And if he’s calling plays this year O and his whole staff will be gone a year after Burrow

not disagreeing, but honestly curious who these guys are and what schools are hiring them?
a wiki search for aTm, oklahoma, ohio st, UF, USC, Texas, FSU, and michigan, show they were all OC's or at least co-OC prior to being hired. And then you have Sark at Bama .
i'm just not seeing it at the top programs.

I remember Joe Alleva clearly saying he was looking to hire an offensive-minded HC, but one who had prior success as a HC.

So you can't think outside the box.
Cool
Enisminger will be sitting right beside Joe all season long. Having Joe actually doing some planning and calling the play to the sidelines in s few situations is a minimal step from where he is.

You mean the Head Coach?
Who was his OC?
