2020 and the remainder of the 20s, Texas will be fine AS LONG AS conservatives vote. The larger cities, lost causes...will be up to smaller cities and rural areas

Trump took Texas by over 800,000 votes. With this group of candidates, look for results similar to when Wendy Davis ran for Governor.

Does this mean it's hopeless for the future? Florida and Texas are pretty big states.

Harris County is now blue.

No one here likes Cruz, literally the only reason why Beto was close.
Another big factor was the media’s decision to sit on or not investigate the negative stories we’ve seen about Beto in the past 6 months - the hacking group, writing stories about running over kids, policy on open borders, etc. Plenty of negative stories have come out about all of the Dem candidates and The Squad will be an issue, too.
It won’t be as easy for the suburban moms to pull the Dem lever this time.

TBird? Why are you sporting a Michigan emblem? Thought you were Gigem?

My dad's an Ag. My mom's a Wolverine. Grew up rooting for both, and still do, even after going to TAMU. Sport the UM logo every now and then.

Interestingly, most of the CA transplants in TX are conservatives
This is partially true I’m learning.
2 interesting points from this last year. If the Cruz/Beto election was just amonsgst native Texans, Beto would have won. Transplants would have elected Cruz.
I met a guy at Church who moved here in September and he said that Cruz was the first statewide election his guy won since Schwartzenger. At a family church camp in Tyler, TX there was a host of CA families. I joked with one “y’all are invading our camp like you’re invading our state.” Didn’t even bring politics into it and he said “all the ones I know that are coming here are trying evade the state and local government. I hope they’re voting like it.”
I’ve definitely still met some people who left California to escape CoL but still vote Dem though.

I love the guy but I think Cruz is an average candidate at best. Too dorky. It's really kind of a miracle he beat Beto. Trump will win Texas easily.

As is. MAGA landslide.
Red flag laws MAGA wins a close one with more blue switches down ticket and Texas is blue in 2024.

Umm Beto had the same platform and he almost won the senate seat
Texas is closer to blue than i have ever imagined it would be

Texas is like many other states. Everyone always touts that the big cities are now blue. There is a reason for that known as flight out to the suburbs. The population bases in the suburbs are growing at a fast clip in Texas thanks to large companies setting up shop just outside of the bigger cities.
Also at the end of the day the dems always need a hook to get people on their side to the polls. Legal marijuana, abortion, more free shite, or a candidate that galvanizes the base. This current crop for the dems misses on many levels with that. Until they get another Obama the black vote will be weak, and I know many left leaning and independents that believe the dems have gone way to far left for their comfort. Does that mean they will vote for Trump? Maybe not, but they also won't vote for a far left leaning dem either which is just as good.

I think there are four incumbent texas repubs not running in 2020.
They can see the writing on the wall.

Based on the Cruz-O'Rourke election, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and El Paso are all blue.
Not a good measuring stick. Cruz and Trump is polar opposite candidates even though they're in favor of similar policies.
Dont underestimate how very little people consider when casting votes. The dems know this which is why they pander to no end.

The tech savvy democrats are pinpointing traditionally apathetic individuals and are ensuring they go to the voting booths. Most tech companies are owned and employ mostly "progressive" ideological people. Texas is the next California.
