Wrong. I like Cruz. But you’re right, the ignorant masses are easily duped by a smooth talker even if he’s an empty suit.

While I would like to believe this, I don’t. Not in the least. When I first moved from Houston to Dripping Springs (just outside Austin) 16 years ago, you never saw a Liberal bumper sticker and you could talk with just about any neighbor about what a bunch of dipshits the Liberals in Austin are. NOW? Imported Libs are EVERYWHERE!! You have to be very careful who you’re speaking with... cause chances are they are a raging lunatic Liberal . Be VERY concerned about Texas.

Texas is not flipping in 2020. Probably not even really “in play” until the mid 2030s.

Based on the Cruz-O'Rourke election, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and El Paso are all blue
First, that election is a poor indicator of anything. Huge amounts of out-of-state money, and an incumbent who was not as popular as he should be.

Setting that aside, limited to the city limits of those core cities? Yes, definitely Blue.

But the metro areas (other than El Paso and maybe Austin) are Red.

I mean.. John Bel Edwards won LA. Kinda hurts the argument that governor elections mean a party is going to win the presidential stuff right?

The tech savvy democrats are pinpointing traditionally apathetic individuals and are ensuring they go to the voting booths. Most tech companies are owned and employ mostly "progressive" ideological people. Texas is the next California.

I sometimes serve as an election clerk Election Day and in 2018 we had an amazing number of "young" (under 50) voters showing up with no clue if they were even registered or in the right place. All they knew was that they got their text messages telling them to go vote for Beto.

Democratic support seems to grow by about several thousand Hispanic votes a day, but no one can understand or figure out why? Also, the population grows by several thousand each day not including recorded births in hospitals, can you help us solve this mystery?

That stunt Cruz pulled at the republican convention really pissed a lot of Texan’s off. His turnout was low. I’m a lifelong conservative and even I held my noise when voting for him.

Trump will inspire more conservatives to the polls that Ted.

Seems almost like a cavalier statement but this is a big deal. If the Republicans lose Texas then it is just about over in future presidential elections. So if Republican strategists know what you've written then they better be working like hell to expand the base.

Edit: Looking at projections for additions of districts after 2020 census, Texas is expected to gain 3 congressional seats. The Republican majority in the state legislature should reapportion and gerrymander wisely.

There's a reason straight ticket voting was removed from ballots in Texas starting in 2019.

Anecdotal evidence to say the least, but I am currently in SE Texas working at a refinery.

Yesterday when I left the office, a group of about 10-12 Hispanic workers walked past me. All were speaking Spanish. All had Trump stickers on their hard hats.

Could be a diversion for ICE I guess. LOL

I just had my sister in San Antonio call me last week telling me "remember 6 years ago when you said Texas will go blue in 2020"..yup...then I asked her if it's legitimate that it could go. "Only if a moderate democrat runs then sure it will fall blue". As for the Congressional makeup...it'll stay majority red for a bit longer.

Be concerned about Florida as well.

You mean the state that the GOP won the governorship and unseated an incumbent senator in even though their candidates were very low energy and the democrats tried their best to produce enough fraudulent ballots to win?

There isn’t a single moderate running in the Dem party this election cycle.

Contrary to what the media will tell you immigration is a winning issue for trump and the GOP in Texas.

Worried long term, yes. When Texas, not if but when it turns, the USA as we know it is over.

Re-elect Trump and give him a republican senate and the judiciary will be reset and so that judicial branch is safe for 25 years. The massive number of judicial openings in 2016 that Trump is filling with conservative judges was the key to saving to America.

Common sense in this thread.

Everyone nationally ignores the arse whooping Abbott handed Lupe. Granted she was a terrible candidate.

I’d love to see Abbott run for President after this term as governor is up. He appeals very well to moderates and independents.
