Ed Orgeron meddles with the offense?

Well that coach is not necessarily wrong

I’d love to know how many head coaches just let their OC do what they want with no questions asked?
People make waaaaay too much out of shite like this.

You could say that about most all coaches. None of them just let their assistants do whatever the hell they want.

“What coach lets their assistant do whatever they want”
Ok, sure that’s what they mean.
I am Sure the coaches saying this have no idea how much interaction a HC has with his assistants

Exactly. The wording of that quote is ridiculous. He likes to run what he’s comfortable with.......... well no shite??
I’m guessing this stems from the Canada hire and that was doomed from the start. There’s a reason that dude doesn’t have a job right now.

It's just funny to me when people say a HC shouldn't meddle with his team. He is the HC of course he is going to have input in every phase of the game.

Well, when your coach does it and an LSU type team loses to a Troy type team, it's gonna get some attention.
ETA: And this has literally nothing to do with this year's team. It seems like we are on the right track and I and everyone else am and should be excited about this year.

If he was so terrible as an OC and such an a-hole to work with...why did our coach hire him?
Did he just start to suck and be a dick when he got to Baton Rouge? If not, how did we get fooled so badly, and why is it that there seems to be no blame for this miss when realizing we're now on our third offense in three years because of it?
I'm not defending Canada. He may both suck AND be a gaping a-hole for all I know. But why is it we seem to have not done the due diligence to have known this before we hired him as Orgeron's first marquee hire?

They are 100% correct. Ed O completely cost us the Troy game by "eliminating" the motion that is the center of Canada's play calling. Not to mention coaching scared against Alabama for three years.

Here come the o bashers like they’re being paid.
And they bitch about Ree doing the same thing on the positive side

Don’t think he brought in Brady just to meddle and mess things up. Ed appears to be a coach that realizes that they will get nowhere if they continue with the offense this school has been using. He made changes last year and is taking it farther this year. He wants elite recruits so you better have an elite offensive system to draw them in. So far whatever he’s selling has worked.

Canada is not a bad OC he is actually pretty good, but he is an a-hole and he isn’t a good enough coordinator to make up for the a-hole part of him.
It’s a balance. If Aranda was an a-hole his coordinator skills more than make up for that.

How much input did Les have with his DCs?
We kinda say this all the time “oh every coach is involved”
Les, who of course was a huge offensive meddler, sorta let his DC do his thing.

quote:One thing I wondered about, besides the abrasive personality issues, was possible recruiting effects. LSU has tended to run a pro-style offense, and outside of QB, has landed a lot of NFL skill players over the years.

You want to tweak and modernize that, but not totally change it- or you risk alienating that recruiting pipeline.

Read the board long enough...MANY here have stated point blank that his offense was a terrible fit here. Just ask. And, if that's true and posters here seemed to know it ahead of time...why did we hire him if his offense was such a bad fit?

Again...this may be true. But did we not know this? This seems like basic information anyone could have obtained from a former employer and people who worked with him.
I just don't think this staff gets a pass by suggesting Canada was a "bad fit" if by that people mean that his offense was bad fit ( something we ought to have know by simply watching film) or that he was difficult to work with (something we should have know had we done the same level of back ground checking a store manager would do at Target before hiring someone.)
This hire and it's ultimate failure, for whatever reason, is why we're now on Offense #3 in Orgeron's third year instead of our 3rd Year under the offense we could have installed back in 2017. Glad he's made changes...but let's not pretend that he was not changing from what he himself allowed to be installed.

I think changing it to be more like the “Saints” should be safe as far as keeping the pipeline??
