Sorry- I could not resist.
Rushing to judgment after only three sessions is unwise, but so far Ishmael Sopsher is not close being able to contribute to the 2019 Alabama Crimson Tide. Listed at 334 pounds, Sopsher should not be much overweight at 6-foot-4. Conditioning is apparently the greater problem. He has been observed being “gassed” at every practice session.

I knew that when I watched the film... It has to do with Lsu because everyone was all bent out of shape over not getting him. me and many others said we didn't want him because he's incredibly lazy on film.

This is the least surprising news of the day. He thinks it will all be handed it to him, and I'm sure that's what they sold to him as well. He doesnt have the drive to become great, he'll spend a few years there as a backup who rarely plays then probably transfer to a nobody school.

It’s relevant because a lot of the recruiting experts questioned his work ethic the last year of his recruitment. Nick will fix that or he’ll be gone by next year. That kid will have to buy in though.

Amazing how little motivation someone has when you throw the bag at him...or the barber as the intermediary

I remember the first time I saw a photo of him last year. I think it was a shot of him at a camp standing with a skill player. I said to my son, that can't be I. Sophser, right??
He looked like a fat tub of lard to me. Now, with all this being said, there is a reason every big school wanted his arse, and satan got him free haircuts. The light could come on, and he may turn into a monster.

How did he get five stars in the first place?

Good, couldn't have happened to a better person.
Hope he crashes and burns, something needs to humble him!

You can't coach size, and he has it. He was also physically much bigger than his competition. While that is not unusual for D-1 prospects, it was a bit unusual that he seemed to rarely dominate much lesser competition. The knock on him is that he was lazy. "Give a shite" is not always something that can be fixed and is something you MUST have to play at a high level.
LSU desperately wanted him because (1) O didn't want to lose the perception battle by losing another big LA recruit to Alabama and (2) LSU needed some bodies along the DL. But this could, emphasis COULD be one of those thank God for unanswered prayers situations in that Ika looks like he could quickly develop into a dominant player. Certainly motor and desire don't seem to be an issue. Kind of like the anger of missing out on Hootie Jones only to get Jamal Adams in his place. One is ranked the 37th best player in the NFL. The other isn't even on an NFL team

It’s all good Bama only signed Ish so they could get their hands on Rod the Bod anyway.

Also in need of better physical preparation is fellow freshmen Byron Young. Not as much as Sopsher, but Young has had to miss reps from being physically overstressed. Young is listed at a svelte 295 pounds.
Also out of shape is former LSU recruit Byron Young
