Everyone in Lafayette is short. Including the women. You let the lack of hair on the baws heads, and the overdone hair dids on the Bawettes’ heads fool your eyes.

lol I'm 5'6"ish and live in Lafayette. I dated a bawette who was 5'9" for a couple of years. I loved having somebody around who could reach the top shelf for me.
ETA: I don't feel like I'm that short down here. Wherever I go there are usually a few guys my height or shorter than me. I was recently up in North Dakota and I felt like a damn midget. Them dudes were massive.

My wife is taller than the average girl, but a few inches shorter than me. When she wears heals, she is about the same height as I am. I am just over 6.
