At least they can look at those participation trophies and remember back when they were something important.

Also known as Generation Y, millennials are typically defined as people born between the years of 1981 and 1996 and are poised to become the largest living generation in America.
The survey, conducted by Money Under 30, asked 1,000 millennials about their financial independence. About 46 percent of millennials admitted their parents help them with basic costs like their cell phone bill, their groceries, and their rent.

You mean a social media director's job doesn't get paid a 6 figure salary?

my dad will probably still hand me a couple of 20s when he is on his death bed. not ashamed

The real question is why can't the Boomer parents cut the apron strings ?

Going to enjoy the millennial down votes, such fragile snowflakes.

My gf and her sisters get money from their dad randomly... he gives them a $100.00 bill from time to time during the month. All 3 girls have good jobs, speech pathologist, physical therapist and rad tech... so it's not like they are hurting for money unless they have some crazy spending habits i'm unaware of.

Surprised it's only 46% honestly. Sometimes I feel like my wife and I are the only ones that are self sufficient.

And the other 54% are paying for a good portion of everything else in this country. Stupid boomers can't die off fast enough. Enjoy rotting away.

This is more about enabling parents tbh.

the vast majority of the 46% was still being on their parents cell phone plan
I don't really consider that to be an "allowance", unless the definition of an allowance has changed in the last 20 years

I actually do believe this. When I see some of the trips some people are going on and knowing what job they have, I know that they have to be getting help from mom and dad.

Going to get the money when they die anyway, why not an advancement?

Its such a weird part of our culture that this is frowned upon
so many other cultures where this is not only the norm, but go even further, as in they all live together well into adulthood

Blowing an entire savings account on travel is pretty trendy right now among the Instagram crowd. Gotta keep up.

Americans value independence more.
