If you can swing Tucker and a couple of other good prospects for Thor, you do it with a smile. That's got to be the target. If the Padres or Twins go beyond that somehow, you have to tip your cap to them.

I'd also grind hard to get Lugo or Diaz off of them. A 5-for-2 trade is the dream.

He’s 3rd in baseball in outs above average

@ChrisCarlin

In other words, "Those teams are smarter than us."

Just quit baseball.

5 would be farm selling

Not Luhnow’s m.o., and I’m fine w that

But I have enough doubt on Thor that he could be an unanswered prayer for me.

IOW, if he’s a 2, and we have to give too much up, I think there’s more value in a 3, giving up less, which might be Ray or Stroman

I know it should sting some, but what did we really give up for JV and Cole?

IOW, what he means is that they are leery to agree to a deal with known shrewd businessmen.

I may have mentioned that before.

Luhnow’s “craftiness” works against him. If he is willing to pull the trigger, we must be fricking up, it has to be in his favor. That’s what they’re saying.

It’s a compliment to Luhnow, but it works against the Astros going fwd.

But it also means what it says. The Astros and Yankees use tech and analytics to maximize player development. The Mets were Madoff'ed and work on the cheap.

True dat

I might be wrong, but I do think it’s a general feeling amongst GMs, not just the Mets

One thing’s for sure. Anybody doing business w the Yankees is paying a surcharge

I don’t mind Houston joining that group if we get the same benefits

Another guy the Mets have that no one is talking about is lefty reliever Justin Wilson. He's more than a LOOGY but also shuts down left-handed bats. That would be an excellent get.

In ALL of baseball?

Is that good? Is it that a stat not worth looking at? Ryno is trying to explain to us that Marisnick shouldn’t even be on this team.

Yes in all of baseball, and yes it’s good.

He’s a valuable player in the field no doubt. Has been somewhat serviceable at the plate

He's also raked against lefties this year. Jake is super valuable.

When Carlos Correa returns Friday, @Astros will be whole for first time since May 10. Went 42-23 while Springer and/or Altuve and/or Correa were on IL. 13-7 while all 3 were out.

This seems good

Also, there are concerns about being embarrassed talented players such as Diaz and Syndergaard, who have underperformed this year for the Mets, will be unlocked and flourish elsewhere. There is a particular worry about sending either to a more analytically advanced organization such as the Astros —

That cracks me up so much, we suck as baseballing so we’re scared to trade to teams that don’t suck at baseballing

ETA: not sure if they could feel any more cuckolded than they do right now

Nobody tell the mets that the Dodgers spend more money on baseball ops than the Rays spend on total team salary
