Might be better off getting an OnX subscription

Yep, OnX is worth every penny. Overlays all public lands onto satellite imagery as a green tint, can change opacity to see features, view topography, mark waypoints and measure trails, etc.

The lines aren't perfect with OnX but, it's close enough that it's worth it to buy it. I've had it the last two year for the same reason as you are asking.

view topography,
I wish it allowed you to choose your contour line intervals though

Tensas is not what it used to be. I would definitely go to another refuge.

Go here and you can generate a KML file of all the NWR. Once loaded to GoogleEarth, save to My Places, then uncheck the "FWS Refuge Ownership Boundaries" and the solid shape of the NWR will turn off leaving only the highlighted boundary lines so that you can see the base satellite image.

ETA: You can also download all of the WMA boundary maps for GE here:

I have a pretty good map but it doesn’t account for the 15,879 coonasses hanging on 4ft ladder stands strategically placed on 9” centers. That’s the one you need.

Last year was horrible. We planned to stay 4 days and only stayed one. We walked over 10 miles to try and find a place to hunt and couldn't find anything that wasn't on top of someone.

Last 2 years the place has become a shite show of people from South Louisiana that don't have a clue about hunter ethics. We canceled our camp rental contract in Feb. and wont be back for a few years. 3 of us was walking 2.7 miles and it took 1 hr and 15 minutes one way, every morning, to get away from people. Just not worth it anymore. First mile in walking the main road "trail" you would see no less than 150 hunters all within 200 yds of each other and some jacking up right on the damn road or trail. I've walked randomly thru the woods looking for spots and came across scattered corn, acron rage piles, apples, syrup poured on stumps, buddy walking in the dark got his leg hung in a damn snare. You name it. All that shite will get innocent folks busted. Straw that broke the camels back for me was scattered corn we found 50 yds from us after we had hunted for 2 days.

Holy frick is this gospel, but the same coonasses say that NE LA isn't really LA.

It surely has changed and not for the better. I found three different bait sites last year and numerous stands.

I have hunted there since the early 90's and it is quite disappointing. Hopefully things will change but only time will tell.

Will not change until they add Wardens and they lay the hammer down. It's to many acres and not enough enforcement to change today.

I agree. Having one true Fed warden on 87000 acres is impossible.

Well when the campground FB page shares a photo of every decent buck killed on it, and every boudreaux, theriot, thibadoux, and bergeron shares it on their page, everyone in South LA thinks Tensas is like the Missouri sanctuary. But they just cant help themselves when the 2.5 year old 6pt comes by

AMEN. Campground FB page was the beginning of the end of Tensas. Coonasses have raped and pillaged all of thier own WMA's until there is nothing left on any of them not even ducks anymore. Now they all come up North with the same mentality that got them where they are now.

Had I realized that before, I would have never let them share pics of me and mine.
