Black Americans ought to know this too: you know what consistently depresses wages more than almost anything else? Illegal Immigration.

Why are blacks always assumed to be working poor in this case? This is an ugly generalization and argument that republicans need to stop using. Let the dems make that assumption. It assumes working poor = blacks only. Which is dismissive of successful blacks and working poor whites.

Blacks are not ASSUMED to be in the working poor. Please look up some economic statistics and get back to me.
I am well aware that there are plenty of white, brown and asian working poor. But per capita.. well, you oughta take a look.
Regardless, your point is not terrible. I know the Dems are guilty of the Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations. I certainly do not believe that blacks are "destined" to be poor.

Here in Trinidad the black party had ruled since independence and our sister Island, Tobago voted 90% for the black contestants. The East Indian party won some years back.
They built a long promised hospital in Tobago, fixed the roads, built an entertainment/convention complex, a library. And during the next election....they voted 90% black.

The Chinese are The minority while the Indians are the majority. However they have a Chinese ruler and The ruler has made it clear the day they open up democratic elections is the day Singapore comes to an end because each person Will vote for their race rather than for the national interest

The black voting block may be breaking up. Saw an interview with the black billionaire that owns BET. While hesitant of Trumps rhetoric, he was lauding the economic polices that are helping the black communities.
Before someone says people want to destroy black people, we’re not talking about taking away anyone’s right to vote. Just listen to they facts and not the emotion and make their own decisions.
If the problem is racial discrimination why do African and West Indian immigrants succeed at rates similar to other non- Asian immigrants. Too many tie their success to sports or entertainment. That kind of talent is too rare to lift enough people.
I wish more people would listen to people like Thomas Sowel and Larry Elder. Their thoughts on how blacks can escape poverty are reproducible.
This country would be better off with a larger black middle class. We spend too much energy and money with LBJ’s great society and have little to show for it. Arguments are being made that it has hurt the black community more than help.
Liberals want power only and when the can’t argue policy start screaming racism. In the squads press conference, Rep Presley said you can’t criticize their platform because they are black women.
