Jamaal Adams is the best LSU defensive player I ever witnessed

I started attending LSU games when I was a kid in the late 1970's and have been a season ticket holder for more than 30 years. While there have been many great LSU defensive over those years including Michael Brooks, Glenn Dorsey, Devin White, and Patrick Peterson, I do not recall seeing a better player on defense than Jamaal Adams. Not only was he one of the best tackling DB ever at LSU, he seemed to have a thorough understanding at all times of what the offense was trying to do. Physically, Adams had very good speed and was a vicious hitter. Grant Delpit isn't far behind overall but doesn't tackle quite as physically as Adams did.
Offensively, Alan Faneca was the most dominant player I remember. Kevin Faulk was second. Both seemed to play on a level far above teammates and opponents.
Who are the greats you remember?

Its probably Tyrann Matthieu
He was fricking amazing his 2 seasons here.
He was the only Cb/S/OLB I’ve ever seen.

Sooooooooo............. what about Tyrann?

If Delpit has another solid season he might be giving Adams a run for his money

Disagree. He might crack top 5.
1. Mathieu (a game changer)
2. LaRon Landry
3. Pat Pete
4. Jamal Adams
5. Devin White

Honey badger and it ain’t close. Adams was great but I think delpit will pass him this year as far as safety’s go

This is a super bad take as well.
Delpit is a beast at the line.

You weren’t around when TM7 roamed the field?
Easily the GOAT.
Only Delpit, Devin White, and Peterson come close.

TM7 is the GOAT to me. Adams maybe the best pure safety ever though

Just be glad that Jamal didn't play the same position as D.J.Welter or no one would have ever heard of him.
But, seriously, Tyrann.
While I'm here, you know who is underrated because he really just had one breakout year and then left? Kevin Minter.

Jamaal was great. But Tm7 changed games by himself

Grant Delpit will be a top 5 LSU defensive player by year’s end. He led the team in sacks and interceptions last year. Was tied for first in passes defended with the two starting corners. Was second in solo tackles behind Devin White. 3rd in overall tackles and tackles for loss.
Dude will go down as one of the best all around defender in LSU history. He can cover and tackle. Name me some other names that could do both at the level he does.

I didn’t put him Top 5 just because his college career isn’t finished yet.
