Kawhi spurned them for a “little bro” team that shares the same arena, and he brought along the last surefire Lakers lock of a player with him.
this is the best part to me.

Average regular season games played since being in the NBA
Kawhi-58
PG-67
AD-67
LeBron-75
Well this is awkward

Are those counting basically an entire year each missed from freak injuries for Kawhi and PG?

nah I won't be done laughing for a while. it's because the Laker fan base as a collective (not everyone) thinks they deserve every great NBA player despite being about as incompetent as any other professional sports franchise. And when they are left spurned they try to put lipstick on a pig (ie how great Kuzma, Boogie, & Rondo are).
it's because so many other franchises are at a massive disadvantage. the Lakers are in LA. they do have a great history, & they have a city everyone wants to be in. and despite all of that, they still get spurned by Kawhi & PG13. how badly does the FO have to screw up to not sign at least 1 of 2 guys from LA that publicly stated they want to be in LA? because the fact of the matter is, the Lakers should get any & every FA they want. they shouldn't struggle to put a good team on the floor. but the fact that they haven't been to the playoffs in 6 years, shows the depth of the FO's ineptitude.
and on top of it all the 2 guys they wanted, are playing for a different team in the same building.
so I hope Jeanie & Rob keep running the Lakers, because it's been fun watching the Laker FO have this level of incompetence combined with their lack of self-awareness to believe that they are a poorly run. Plus it's going to be fun when Laker fans hype themselves up for Giannis only to get spurned.

Kawhi only play 70 games 2 times in his career. He is not durable. That’s why he had to sit 20+ games last year. Bc of his teammates and conference, TOR went 17-5 in games he missed last year. I wouldn’t expect clips to fare so well being in the west in the games kawhi sits.
For a guy like Paul George he has played 70+ in 7 straight taking away the one where he broke his leg.

To be fair it wasnt the lakers who got spurned by those guys, it was LEBRON who got spurned.
Both kawhi and Paul George wanted to be on the lakers before lebron went there. Then lebron went there and they didn’t want to go.

He’s amazing and I root for him. But there’s something funky going on with the guy’s leg/legs.
I’d say it’s similar to Curry. Curry plays a lot and is going to rough you up when he’s playing. But there’s definitely something going on with his ankles.

I think people are also ignoring the fact that stats don't also account for the number of games AD played and left with an injury midway through. He still got credit for playing those games.

No doubt.
I’m not the biggest AD fan.

quote:Excluding 2017, he has averaged something like 66 games per season. I was just pointing out that using the average games played stat as some indication of how injury prone a guy is, is a flawed metric in this scenario. A single injury that scews the stat doesn't indicate how injury prone kawhi might be.

Also, Kawhi played for the Spurs which are an organization that is notorious for resting its players throughout the season. It's not something new.

They had a terrible off-season. The AD acquisition was a TRADE. A TRADE in which they gave up ton of valuable assets.
The trade was undertaken assuming they would make a big signing. The success of the move hinged on this, and AD gave up his kicker knowing so. Then they complete whiffed and signed no big free agents while the other team in the same building cleaned up

Only when they were old. Not when they were in their primes.

A trade that was made when? In the off-season or in-season?

Danny Green was a liability in the Finals last year.

And they benched him in order to get past Milwaukee. He played 15 mpg the last two games of that series. Dan Green is a massive massive over pay.

Two years ago the Pels were treading water until Cousins went down. Now the Lakers sign Cousins to join AD again in the frontcourt, with a major injury now on his resume.
Interesting.
Interesting.

Ill give you that one Boom. LeBron isn't a guy stars want to play with. Role players love him, most stars don't.
my point remains that the Lakers are at a massive advantage over other franchises. and they haven't been to the playoffs in 6 years. that's inexcusable for them

Now we are finding out kawhi also tried to recruit kyrie. So he would have even preferred to play w kyrie than lebron
