Are we done laughing at the Lakers yet?

I hate the Lakers as much as the next guy, but they had an amazing offseason.
This board is funny though. Pels fans, maybe some Lebron haters mixed in, have been so mad that they’ve dug their heels in the sand and have decided that they’ll make fun of the Lakers for their “failures” no matter what. Look at the following progression:
“There is no way the Pelicans will trade AD to the Lakers. It’s gonna be Lebron and no one else. What a failure”
“Wow lol at the Lakers for what they gave up for AD. Don’t even have enough cap space for another max slot either. Gonna be Lebron, AD, Kuzma and fans”
Then the Lakers had the space to be in the mix for Kawhi. They struck out there, but they had the space to *be* in it. Are we supposed to laugh at a franchise for not being able to create the best big 3 in nba history? Kind of a weird slant.
Then it shifted to laughing at the Lakers for signing Boogie? All the best role players were off the market. Lakers did what they had to do by waiting on Kawhi, for better or worse - they had a chance to lock up basically an automatic title had he chose them, they can’t say sorry Kawhi we can’t wait on you. With that being said, finishing with Boogie, Green, Rondo is actually a very nice haul. It’s pretty much the best case scenario for them once Kawhi went elsewhere.
So I mean, are we just laughing at them for not becoming the next Warriors type team who is the overwhelming title favorite? Instead, these bums are one of probably 4-5 teams who are the leading favorites for the title.
I know we hate the Lakers, but they had a great offseason. It just happened to be an A or A- instead of an A++

hate the lakers? How come, they are mostly insignificant. And have been for years. Nothing to be jelly of when you look at that roster.

I don't know. I think we can keep laughing since Kawhi just played the frick out of them and now he is going to rub his nuts on their chin in their own building for the next several years. Should be fun to watch.

I don’t think Pelicans fans are mad at the Lakers. They are just mad about how Anthony Davis and his agent conducted themselves. I personally believe the Pelican won the deal, considering the injury problems of AD. Now, if he stays healthy, they have a good chance. I doubt it happens though. Not mad, just being real.

I get where you are coming from, but the Lakers franchise is a shite show, and if you’re hanging your hat on the Boogie and Rondo signings as a “good haul”, good luck to you.

I am torn on Pelinka as he was the agent for hardwn and kob so I have respect for him in that light but the People I know who have dealt with him don’t have the same level of respect for him and I don’t think he is very good as a GM from what we have seen.

They tried to bully New Orleans into a midseason trade and it backfired horribly
Verdict: funny
They mortgaged the farm for AD when there were no other bidders:
Verdict: funny
Lebron is quite literally dressing AD now.
Verdict: very funny
Kawhi spurned them for a “little bro” team that shares the same arena, and he brought along the last surefire Lakers lock of a player with him.
Verdict: pretty damn funny
Lakers paid 15 million a year for Danny Green and 8 million a year for KCP; AD waived 4 million dollars to help do that.
Verdict: knee slapping funny
Boogie Cousins, Rondo, Javale, Kidd in the same locker room
Verdict: Reasonably funny with potential to become hilarious
Lakers insiders and Sauces Broussard leaping off the ledge after having their credibility set ablaze.
Verdict: come on, everybody should think this is funny
There’s a lot to digest there. It’ll be funny until they win a title, which they certainly could do, but it’ll take a lot of things going right.
Pels fans have every right to hate them and cheer for their demise.

Boogie, Rondo, and Danny Green. Given the circumstances, it’s a great finish.
To argue that is a disaster, you have to either take the position that they should’ve said frick it and not pursued Kawhi Leonard, or make a case that they should’ve spent 30M on whatever else leftovers were out there?

The only thing that would make the whole thing funnier is if the Lakers somehow signed Carmelo Anthony.

Missing on Kawhi obviously sucks but the Lakers have had a really good offseason imo. Far, far better than last year’s. I don’t blame them for waiting on Kawhi and I think Pelinka did a really good job filling the roster once he signed with the Clips.
This is going to be one of the funnest seasons in a long time imo

The LoLakers fans are obsessed with Pels fans now, I guess because 3/5ths of their starters used to play for us.
And again, any Lakers failures directly benefit the Pelicans due to the draft picks.

Since when are the first two guys considered good FA gets? Especially since no one else would even touch Boogie with a 10ft pole

quote:I don't think there's any chance they win a title this season, barring some crazy trade that nets them real, legit assets. And obviously I don't see how that'll happen since they're short on assets.
It’ll be funny until they win a title, which they certainly could do, but it’ll take a lot of things going right.
This is mostly just a shock factor statement since I think the odds of both happening are super slim, but I have no doubt in my mind that the Lakers have a better chance of missing the playoffs next season than they do of winning a title, mainly because as I said I don't think they have any chance to win the title as presently constituted.

Lakers have two top 5 players and the 3rd best odds to win the title and this board is acting like they are the Hornets
I love this freaking place. Where grown me act like pre-teen girls letting their emotions govern the way they think

I’m giving them a chance for a few reasons (Lebron going nuclear for his last ride, injuries to other teams), but I definitely see what you’re saying
My biggest thing is load management for two guys who definitely need it
The rest of that roster is not good enough to give Lebron and AD a lot of time off

they really should film that locker room this year and make a reality tv show out of it. there will be some fantastic material.
