Delays were always the drawback to making a space shuttle pilgrimage. If I were a retiree I would have parked an RV as close as NASA permits and gladly waited it out.

Interesting, didn't realize that. The one I saw was in 1991 if I recall properly.

It was also AWESOME from three miles away, where we watched from the VIP Viewing Area! (my first view from there, with my wife and best friend - I usually watched from by VAB)
