I have caught roughly half of the shows during this summer tour, and these guys have something special going on. Mayer is fully incorporated, and Bob Weir is at his recent best. And Oteil is cementing his legacy as one of the greatest bass ever. Letting everyone sing, even let Chimenti do a verse on The Weight encore Saturday night. Get on it baws.

The tempos are too slow I agree....that is on Weir and his balladeer style where he thinks every fricking song should be that way...... but they are playing really well right now. Was listening to one of the Wrigley shows and was really good.

Why? Warren Haynes played a show at Red Rocks with Tiger

Give him a chance baw. See if you can find the interview he did with Steve Parish recently on Grateful dead channel. I listened to it Thursday afternoon and it was pretty damn cool.
He is very respectful of Jerry's legacy and the band history, not to mention an absolute monster musical genius. My perception changed quite a bit after hearing that interview.

I’ve listened to most of the shows and can agree that this band is on fire right now. Anyone that thinks it’s too slow can go listen to Phish.
I went to both Wrigley shows, are a bunch of mushrooms and had one of the best experiences of my musical life.
John Mayer as a pop artist isn’t on my radar. But John Mayer as the lead guartist of Dead & Co is a badass.

Say whatever you want about it, but that shite is slow as molasses.
John Mayer is was and always will be a douche and listening to him sing is like nails on a chalkboard.
I find the whole d&c phenomenon crazy honestly, but to each their own. Its a cool a younger generation is getting to experience the whole thing.

Link to interview? I’m thinking of going to see them in Dallas in July

John Mayer’s guitar playing has gotten surprisingly tolerable but he has one of the most vanilla whiteboy ‘soul’ voices I’ve ever heard. Absolutely horrid. Sounds like something that would appeal to fans of American Idol.

You obviously haven't been to a concert. The concert is mostly older deadheads. They are giving way to the younger generation so it's a very eclectic mix of people at the shows.
Mayer is definitely bringing out some people that enjoy his pop music but overall it's a very good crowd. At Wrigley I sat in front of someone that was wearing a DMB hat and she said that DMB is the best band around, she immediately lost credit with that statement.
In regards to the slow playing, I personally don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. There are definitely some slow parts of it, but they bring the heat when they need to. Listen to both Wrigley shows and you'll be blown away how well these guys are playing together right now. If you need the shows, send me your email and i'll send you a link for them. I have the videos as well.

Respectfully disagree. Went to shoreline and LA and his clanky playing was pretty bad. Hopefully it’s changed since those were the first shows of the tour. I’ve still enjoyed every show I’ve seen and agree that it can be slow at times but it’s not always like that. All this being said, I can’t wait for Atlanta this Saturday

I respect your respectful disagreement. Far cry from the normal interwebs discourse.
I sure hope this isnt the final run, there's been a lot of bowing lately.

the pace outside of the California shows has been much better this year. I was at the Gorge shows and Mayer's playing is top notch right now. Bobby has the moments when i hear him in a song and i am like"what the frick is that" then he moves on. But bobby has always done that. the best thing is the scene at the shows. there is magic in the air.I camped next to older heads at the gorge and we spent a lot of time talking about the 80's and the dead. They both agree that it is just great to have the scene back and the music is getting better with every show. There is no replacing Jerry and if you can't imagine the dead without him then that's your loss. Atlanta this weekend and Boulder for the 4th. Took my wife to her first shows in the gorge and she jumped on the bus! Atlanta was her idea this weekend and when she told me Saturday to find tickets i had a tear in my eye! NFA!!

I really can't but I guess that is my issue. I have watched the videos and am surprised how many younger people are out there in the audience. None of them would be old enough to remember the Dead in their heyday with Garcia.
