Teachers are underpaid.

Administrators at those same schools are grossly overpaid.

Its crazy that teachers at top private schools don't even make any money. Requires a degree and make less than some student interns man. Its no wonder people don't wanna do it.

Hard argument to make. Public school teachers already make considerably more than private school teachers.

Do you know any public school teachers in la?

I do. Some I would say are good people, but at the end of the day even they admit they are just passing the buck along to the next level to deal with. Teachers are straight up passing failing students not to teach them more than once in this state.

I believe it is underpaid also, but until you get education out of liberal hands and privatized, they will always make shite.

Teachers in private schools make less than teachers in public schools. Private schools have better test scores.

In certain states, especially the NE teachers are well paid... Likely overpaid.

In PA, teachers are well paid with pensions that are bankrupting communities. In SC, teachers are probably underpaid.

As a job you are completely insulated against recessions and are not at risk of termination for poor performance. Seems fair to be paid less than other industries when you weigh those two actions.

My wife made an annualized salary of $75,000 as a first year elementary school teacher. They are absolutely overpaid by a lot.

Teachers are not well paid. They do , however, get a shitload of vaca, and need to work more of the year and get a raise.

As the teaching professionals n stands now, there is no way they deserve more pay other than cost of living adjustments to keep up with inflation.

They need to perform better to earn better pay, which their unions won’t permit.

Entry level teachers get paid a decent salary. Then school system employees get salary increases for being there, and that’s the problem. When someone sees that busting their arse gets the same reward as doing the bare minimum, you get an entire workforce doing the bare minimum.

How do you do pay if not by seniority? You can have the best teacher in the world, if the student doesn’t want to learn there is nothing that teacher can do. Do you fault teachers for poor students?

The problem is not how teachers are paid. The problem is how much they complain about it on social media.

I have always advocated that teachers and policemen should be our highest paid public servants.

BUT - there need to be regulations that prevent political advocacy on the job.

THe education establishment should be empowered to levy fines on the parents of unruly students - and the students themselves should be removed from the educational system and sent to a rehabilitation facility - where the either shape up or graduate directly to prison.

If teachers were paid free market rates the good ones would make an INSANE amount of cash.

of course, every, single person currently in the teaching profession wouldn’t have a job in education - including those in private schools.

The biggest issue with schools is the lack of parental involvement, most notably the black inner city communities. These communities have been destroyed by liberal policies & indoctrination by community organizers and clergy bought and paid for by the liberal zealots pushing their agenda. You take this out of the equation and teachers are paid fairly for 8 months of work.

Of course you can’t say that in real life because you’re every “ist” in the book. But it’s the truth.

Lose the Prussian/German concept of school that Otto von Bismarck conceptualized that has indoctrinated our kids. Hopefully the internet frees us from “public education” at some point.

This alone has fricked up the US, perhaps beyond repair.
