That Conan appearance was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Side note: did anyone notice Conan looking at his hand when he forgot the girl’s name?

Man, I just watched his final appearance on Letterman. He was struggling to keep from choking up and you could really feel the affection and appreciation he had. A little tough to watch.

Norm was always great on Conan but he was even better on Dennis Miller's show because he was uncensored.

Late night with Norm would be #1 in ratings.

He always worked Joe Camel bits into his appearances.

They weren't allowed back then.
Why do you think he got fired?

I dunno. I didn't watch all 11 minutes of it but the first 4 weren't all that edgy.

Breaking News this week: murder is now legal in the state of California.
His opening to Weekend Update the Saturday after the verdict.

Also: in response to boos about a joke about women not being able to drive:
For those of you booing, I'll have you know, a woman wrote that joke.
Yeah. Now you don't know what to do.
I'm just messing with you. We don't hire women here.

The problem with Norm is he has absolutely no respect for authority whatsoever and gives them the middle finger constantly. The only reason Norm gets gigs is comedians are fricking crazy about him and they put their own neck on the line on his behalf. But this is what makes him fricking hilarious is he doesn’t give a frick about the rules. Executives hatred for him is why his career isn’t bigger. Dave Letterman recommended Norm to be his replacement and it’s clear from early on he was grooming him as such, but the executives weren’t going to do it.
This is 100% correct. I didn’t even know he had a show for a while until about a year ago and after watching it I thought it was really good. He doesn’t censor himself for anyone and that’s why he isn’t mainstream popular but he’s one of the greats. His recent Netflix special is hilarious but it may not transition to the younger SJW crowd.

These jokes wouldn't have made it to air in today's culture. There isn't anything in there about how terrible conservatives are and how we are all headed for disaster because the country didn't do what they were told to do.
The thing I miss most about late night TV is the pop culture references and jokes.

Imagine trying to pull off the women drivers/writer joke on weekend update today!

"This week it was revealed that during his first interview with police, OJ Simpson refused a lie detector test. His reasoning: It detects lies."
Posted on 6/20/19 at 7:26 am to HoopyD
his greatest joke:
"After the OJ Simpson acquittal verdict was announced, Washington DC mayor Marion Berry urged both white Americans and black Americans... To help get him some crack."

"Please note that the percentages in these pie graphs do not add up to 100% because the math was done by a woman. [Crowd groans.] For those of you hissing at that joke, it should be noted that that joke was written by a woman. So, now you don't know what the hell to do, do you? [Laughter] Nah, I'm just kidding, we don't hire women."

I just looked up that movie because I’d never heard of it. It made $188,000 at the box office on a $10m budget.

I watched a bit on workaholics, once, where the three guys were joking about forcing themselves on a woman to improve her day.
I saw Louis CK joke about fricking a dead kid
Yeah. . .I think he could make the same jokes.
