tariffs were already in place. we are increasing them assuming china will fold. China will let their people starve to death before they bend the knee. They are COMMUNISTS.

You are mistaken. Saying something has to be done doesn't justify bad policy. The tariffs could easily sour relations with Mexico and/or harm Mexico's economy and further exacerbate the issues. It's naive to think that there's only an upside to this policy and that tariffs are the only option left that must be utilized.
