Why Didn't USM Try To Ride Lewis Longer?

Playing for their lives with the lead and just 9 outs away from the the finish line with only rag arms waiting in the wings.

He had to be getting close to 100 pitches. Radio said the most pitched he had thrown in a game before tonight was 43.

Third time around lineup was ripping him

This has nothing to do with this directly, but does anyone else remember that pitcher from UT that threw like 11 innings or some shite? That was insane

When Houston beat LSU the pitcher threw 171 pitches in 3 days.

I wanna say this guy was at or close to that in one game.

Because their coach isn’t Wayne Graham

He was getting rocked. Mainieri bailed him out of the 6th inning, and he was facing runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the 7th...
and our 9 hole was a long way away.

Taylor jungman for ut. It was 08 or 09. It was like 7th to 18th inning.

160 pitches or. He was never the same after that.

No it was Austin wood. Jungmann was their ace and best pitcher.

I would've had Lewis throw about 150 pitches. They were playing with house money.

Just looked it up. Lewis's pitch count was 95 when he was pulled.

LSU batters started hitting off of him. Only thing you can do is pull him.

For a dude with a 9.00 ERA with the lead?

you go around the batting order a few times, batters will be able to time up your pitches. Especially if the pitch count is in the 90s usially the arm will start getting tired.
They may have put in the wrong pitcher, but it wasn't a mistake to pull him. It's not like he was dealing. I think he had 1 strikeout all night. Once LSU stopped popping up, it was a lose lose situation.

Funny you said 150. I’m pretty sure Lewis did throw 150 for his JUCO team last year.

Why did we swing at so many first pitches? THAT is the question. Everybody in the place knew that USM had nothing left behind this guy, yet we bailed him out and carried him for about 3 innings longer than he should have been able to go with poor plate discipline.
