He’s been saying this sort of thing since he started running for president.
Hell it was a not so small part of his speech at the Republican Convention.

The kind of ironic thing about this whole thing is the decent LGBT people that contribute to society that I know are not obnoxious and in your face. In fact most of them you wouldn't even know they were LGBT. Tammy Bruce is a good example of the kind of LBGT people I'm talking about.

I get why he banned transgender people from the army but I still wish he hadn’t done it. Definitely lost a lot of support in the conservative LGBT community because of that. I feel like a lot of LGBT activists have allowed that one action to distort their overall perception of Trump’s views towards the LGBT community.

We all know damn well this has nothing to do with the LGBT community, it's pandering to middle class white women in the South and Midwest.
Actions speak louder than words, and while the economic success under Trump has buoyed people of all sexual orientations, when it comes specific to the issues of LGBT, there are too many actions that paint Trump as unsympathetic or downright antagonistic to them:
1. Transgender military ban.
2. Visa difficulties for partners/children of gay diplomats
If he announced as an addition to these tweets that he was supportive of HR 5 and wanted to see Lindsey Graham get it through the Judiciary Committee and up for a full vote by the US Senate as soon as possible - that would actually look like support.
Actions speak louder than words, and while the economic success under Trump has buoyed people of all sexual orientations, when it comes specific to the issues of LGBT, there are too many actions that paint Trump as unsympathetic or downright antagonistic to them:

FWIW transgenders are not banned from the military after the transition. The military is just not going to hire you while you are transitioning and pay for your transitioning. Which make total sense.
Many other people are banned from the military for various reasons, even people with bone spurs.

Transgenderism, at best, is the attempt to force society to accept an extreme behavior. At worst it's an attempt to normalize a mental issue impacting behavoral traits.
Either way it's an experiment in extreme social policy and the military is the last place for that.
