Anyone have any recent reports? Was thinking about heading there tomorrow morning with wind softly coming out of the north.

I've tried Elmer's a few times in the last month, but it was always pretty dirty from the river water. I tried to surf fish Fourchon beach last Sunday, but missed a good trout and foul hooked a hardhead fishing topwater and jerk baits. Water was cleaner and there were a ton of boats trying to fish around the rock barges. I didn't see many other people catching much at all, the ones that were catching had live bait on the bottom throwing back to the beach instead of the barges. I had better luck on the back side of the beach dragging matrix shad on the bottom in the interior marsh. It's close, but not quite ON just yet.

I was thinking about hitting the surf this weekend. I haven't heard any reports yet.

Best name that I have seen in here in a while. What time are you going to the Blue Moon today? I will buy you a beer.

My FIL called me that for years, knowing full well that I never lived in Lockport. Close enough I guess.

I'm willing to bet that the bite will be out of control tomorrow on Elmers. Everything is lined up--water clarity, tides, water temps, bait, and the big trout coming to shore to start the spawn.

quote:Theres a fence at elmers that stops you from driving into the beach. It’s a 300-400 yard walk from truck to water I’d say. Not awful but a cart helps.
