Is there a place in the Baton Rouge/False River area that rents boats for the weekend? Looking at planning a long weekend on False River with the family.

The Sandbar (old Bonaventures) has one that they rent.

there used to be a place on false river where you could rent a VERY basic bateau for the day. not sure if still available.
not to derail the topic, but i've wondered why there isn't some sort of co-op for fishing. most of us have our own stuff or access to it, but for those that are just getting into fishing or making a trip that may not be duplicated again.

Liability nightmare. Sucks but it's the world we live in.

Not sure if true, but I've heard maybe cabela's. not sure if bass pro might do the same? Never rented myself and this info could be incorrect, but worth a phone call...

This. Most places charge $500-$1000 for a full-day rental.
In other parts of the country, you can rent a boat in peak-season for less than $300 a day.

@53 yo, i can remember every private launch at Toledo having fleets of 14' duracrafts with sea horse 9.8 for rent. Too young then to remember what the rental rate was but i bet it was under $10/day including fuel & life jackets. In 1973 dad rented us a 14' grumman with a 28 rude on Gurreo for a day and half for $20 including life jackets, fuel and paddle.

The marina on False River rents pontoon boats now. It’s the new beach bar on the New Roads side.

Don’t plan anything for the next few weekends. False River closed to boat traffic because of the dredging and high water.

Not ;really, airplanes are rented daily at every airport in the nation, liability is not an issue. Most likely there is just not enough profit margin in renting boats.
