Rotten Tomatoes tweeted out earlier that no matter what happens with the final two episodes, season eight will be the worst reviewed season in the show's history.

I saw this coming. He rarely shows emotion, but you could tell during his E3 review he was feeling pretty let down by how it was ending.

random Youtuber (on another video) nails it
quote:
Season 1: winter is coming
Season 2: Winter is coming
Season 3: Winter is Coming
Season 4: Winter Is Coming
Season 5: Winter Is Coming!
Season 6: WINTER IS COMING!
Season 7: WINTER IS COMING!!!!!
Season 8: Winter prematurely came in episode 2 proclaiming "I swear, this has never happened before!"

I don't know how anyone can make it through 20 minutes of that voice.

“At least it’s finally confirmed that Varys is a mermaid!”

Didn't find this a very vicious takedown of the episode

He’s clearly disappointed by it.

Season 7 is the worst of the series and is largely responsible for the problems we have now, IMO.

I actually agree that Season 7 is so far worse. The only great character moment from that season on the top of my head was Olenna’s death. Most of Episode 2 and the beginning of Episode 4 had a lot of great character moments. And then Beyond the Wall, that’s the dumbest fricking episode bar none in the series. It’s just once they get back to the actual plot things go to shite.

Absolutely - that was the first moment I had an “oh shite, they are ruining this” vibe

Compared to the previous seven seasons? Yeah.
That's why people are so disappointed. There is an apparent drop in quality. If they had stuck the ending, this could have been one of the greatest TV shows of all-time. Now it's gone from potential GOAT status to just a great show. That's a massive drop and that's why people are pissed.

It's dropped from a 9/10 at it's peak in season 4 to an 8.1/10 to this season. That really isn't a massive drop.
I'm not sure why the RT score drop is relevant b/c that's just an up or down number and isn't the actual show grade. When a Marvel movie gets 91% everyone here is quick to point out the score grade is at alike a 7 or something so why should this be any different. Also, things like the amount of reviews and who is being used in the reviews need to be taken into account. I saw a review that blasted the last episode purely b/c the person was pissed one of the few black people on the show was executed.

The devil's in the details, my friend. The very first episode of season eight was enjoyed by 92% of critics. Episode two was still relatively high with 88% of critics approving of it. Episodes three and four are where the decline truly started. 75% of critics approved of "The Long Night" while "The Last of the Starks" received a rotten rating of 57%.
Look for that average rating to drop as the final two episodes air. Because if the rumors are true, the show's ending is a massive disappointment

Alt Shift is a fricking loser whose many stupid theories have been shot down. He mad. Y'all mad.

It might be a sign that the world is ending when you and I agree on a polarizing issue.

I think it was top notch through 6 seasons. 7 was a measurable dropoff, but still very good, IMO.
No matter the show, you'll always get bitches who say it's going/gone way downhill and "OMG no one is allowed to like this anymore."
It's no different than music bitches who respond to the mention of every single band with "I liked their earlier stuff, not so much now."
As far as planned last seasons go, season 8 has been disappointing, but the melt fest has not. Although I'm confused as to why they'd nonchalantly fizzle out so many major plot lines, part of me is happy that people's stupid theories are all getting mowed down. These people were all going to melt no matter what, because the show could not possibly have satisfied even 10% of them.
D&D clearly have no creativity. Some people get into this business to be rich and have their asses kissed. Like the losers of an online argument, I'm sure they'll play their failure off as a troll to the audience, and that they'd have gotten huge ratings no matter what, and isn't it funny how people are paying them to piss them off.
Either way, it's clear that we're being led to crave the "real ending" that the last books will give us. D&D clearly don't care about the overall quality of the finished product. They're maximizing the profits of the show (already in the bag no matter what) and now the books. shite, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of non-readers buy the last two books, just because they hated the show ending so much.

Rotten Tomatoes tweeted out earlier that no matter what happens with the final two episodes, season eight will be the worst reviewed season in the show's history.
Through the first 4 episodes, there are already over 400 reviews, 100 per episode. As a comparison, the first 4 episodes of season 4 (despite years to add them), has a total of 197 fewer than half per episode as the current season.
