On a random night? Enjoyable place to hang out for a few beers?

I am curious as well. Can anybody just go when they are open?

Good German beer selection w a few locals too, decent German bar snacks and small menu. Really hit or miss whether anyone will be in there or not. Anyone can go grab a beer and a pretzel though.

Certainly the best German beer selection in town. It can range from 2-3 people to 20 people +.

Hmmm- honestly think Bratz Ya'll has a better German beer selection.

Spaten, check.
Bratwurst with sauerkraut and onions was really good. $6
Eta. This year will be the first Octoberfest at the new location.

The wife and I would go to the fest when it was in Central City before the hospitals bought all the land and tore it down to make room for construction.
Then we went out to Kenner in Rivertown for their fest out there and it was pretty nice, but not like a designated venue.
Glad to see it coming back to N.O. and they had it out there last year before the building was finished, so it should be much better this year.

Is it a private bar at times or something? I don't know much about the place

The main bar is open to the public and has a nice view of Bayou St. John. The member's bar with the beer stein storage is private.
