Godwin would be my first choice
Perfect age to be a long term option
Spent some time as asst at LSU
Hitting background
Strong recruiter
Knows the SEC as he all was assistant at Ole Miss

Godwin is the only former Mainieri assistant I would consider.

Thanks for actually laying out information. So much bs on here lately with people just throwing out the names with no background.

Ranking that list I would want...
1- Sulli
2- Tadlock
3- McDonnel
4- O'Conner
5- Godwin
6- Lovelady
7- Riser

Yep, and I don't think he would come to LSU at the expense of Mainieri. He respects him too much.

It would be great if we knew all of those coaches' current compensation.
Posted on 5/10/19 at 1:56 pm to ProjectP2294
I know ECU is his alma mater but I think he would be a great great hire. When I was in high school, I went to visit Ole Miss for baseball and talked with Godwin for about 2 hours. Guy gets it, and players love him.

Not Conner at Virginia?
He has a rep among pro scouts and agents for coaching both pitchers and hitters in such a way that it works against their development for the future. It's to the extent that players are being steered away from there by people looking to protect their potential professional career.
I wouldn't want that at LSU. Winning games now and developing for the pros don't have to be entirely separate goals. There are ways in which those goals will be at odds just by the very nature of college baseball, but they don't need to be exacerbated by teaching certain techniques.

They are all listed, except for two.

The only one I might be confident would be better than PM is Corbin...maybe.

Woodward can kill two birds with one stone if he gets the capital outlay people on board, provides the program with the best facility upgrades and whatever support Paul needs, then tells Paul he’s going to have to produce and make it pay off.
Even if Paul can’t do that, the investment made will look really attractive to prospective coaches.
