Agree that you're better short term because of Lebron.
Disagree that you're worse off long term. Magic is gone. Luke Walton is gone. The dysfunction of the Lakers has been hit with a spotlight.

Surely that's a step in the right direction. No?

And how many games did Lebron miss?

When he came back they went 2-15

You make every excuse you can

But this disaster is 100% the Buss Kids fault. Jim started it and Jeannie is making it worse

No. Because we were heading in the right direction pre-Lebron. We won’t be post-Lebron. The terrible FO decisions came with Lebron. They weren’t happening pre-Lebron. Why? Because everyone does everything they can to appease Lebron when in reality it’s not the best thing for the franchise.

...except give Lue an offer he’d actually like.

Drama follows Lebron.

What’s new?

I don't follow basketball at all but it seems like when James joins a team by the following year there is a new coach and GM or some big high school drama fighting going on.

Why wouldn't the owner/owners simply have Lebron tell them what/who he wants as coach/gm at the start, make the moves before the season and avoid basically a year of everyone's time?

They wouldn’t give him a contract longer than Lebron’s.

The fact that Lue was even considered is bad enough.

And then coincidentally Lebron throws a fit right after and wants to be traded...

With Magic Johnson and Luke Walton?

Post-Lebron you've still got those assets you talked about earlier and now you've gotten rid of some mediocre talent in the GM and coaching positions. You're probably going to land a top talent in the offseason, further bolstering the future of the Lakers.

I'm not really seeing the downside here. If you want to put everything on Lebron, then he essentially performed a Ctl-Alt-Del on the franchise.

ETA: Honestly, you think the future would be brighter if Lebron never came to LA and Magic Johnson and Luke Walton were still running the shoe?

The rumors I'm seeing are quite the opposite. That it's the FO that's considering trading Lebron.

Which wasn’t hard to see coming. Lebron is a goddmamn moron for going to the Lakers

Why?

LeBron was never playing for the Clippers. Maybe the Knicks, though he’d love playing for Fizdale again.

Winning titles is secondary to him at this point, and frankly probably out of reach for him unless he’s a secondary player. It’s about his business empire.

Well you're saying it's going to be worse. Why do you think it's going to be worse? Surely you've got a vision for what will happen to the team.

I genuinely wouldn’t even care if he was the 2nd guy on a team now. I just enjoy watching him play and rooting for him to do well.

That said, he’s still really really good. I’m not even sure how a team could find someone to make him become the 2nd guy on a team. KD would be the only guy who could even do it(that would be somewhat realistic).

Lebron is a fine 1st option at the moment

Long term-We’re probably worse off. We’re going to come out of the Lebron years with zero championships and these terrible FO decisions will continue until Lebron is gone.

3 years of terrible front office decisions. What do you want me to do? Predict them?
