Is it the same turn based system?

If not, I’ll pass.

That is stupid.

Why has the world thrown turn based away?

Not sure, to cater to new gamers, I would support turn based all the way

I blame the ADD generation

I wouldn’t expect turn based to return any time soon.

I enjoyed the combat in 15 and in Kingdom hearts. I will definitely buy this.

I agree. I prefer turn based. But a company like square enix knows that graphics sell and you have to have action combat to get enough of these retarded modern gamers to buy a game these days to make a profit.

I understand the point, I just hate how it fell to the wayside.

Lost Odyssey had good graphics and was a fantastic turn based game.

It was okay.

Literally the only redeeming thing was the combat. Critical mode made it 1000x better.

Yeah I’m not a fan of the way it’s gone but it definitely isn’t a deal breaker for me.

I agree; not a deal breaker but I truly enjoy it and hate that it’s essentially extinct in this current era

It kinda looks like it may be like Type-0 style of combat where you like switch in and it’s still action based

I hate combat in modern square games. I can’t wait to shite all over this game when it’s final installment comes out in 15 years.

I loved turn based RPG's back in the day they were popular and I can still replay my old favorites and enjoy them.

But for new games, I don't find it very enjoyable. I think turn based combat in RPG's was as much a limitation of technology as it was an actual design choice. It was the best possible system to create the combat experience they wanted given the technology available.

It's just very difficult to make a turn based game that feels stimulating these days, to anybody but hardcore stat/RPG nerds.

I can see the argument that it changes the game's DNA too much to change it in the remake. Then again, most people remember FF7 for the story, the characters, and the world anyway, not so much for the combat.

I doubt they go the extra mile, but maybe they'll put in two combat modes, the new style, whatever that is, and an old school turn based system you can optionally turn on? That would be good.

This game has been in development hell I'm not convinced that it will even be released. But even if it is I’m not sure I’ll get it. They should have made the original game with current generation graphics. Changing the entire battle system is a deal breaker for me. FFVII is my favorite game and I’ve always wanted a remake but of the original game which includes the turn based battle system. Have they said if materia will be in the game?
