He is in the transfer portal leaving Florida.

look I know nothing about the guy but he could be transferring for many reasons.
If he isn't a criminal, then I don't know why you would be glad a player didn't pick LSU.

Sounds like he didn't do anything wrong. Just not happy with the situation he was in. I'd be happy to have him.

In a huge hit to the Florida Gators’ incoming freshman class that will immediately affect the team in 2019, four-star defensive back Chris Steele has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal, a source confirmed to OnlyGators.com. Steele enrolled for spring practice but is leaving the Gators before the summer session begins after telling head coach Dan Mullen of his intention on Wednesday night.
This development is a huge blow to Florida as Steele, the 42nd-ranked player in the Class of 2019, was the Gators’ top-rated incoming freshman and expected to see significant action in his first season as one of the team’s primary cornerbacks.
Steele’s transfer was reportedly prompted by the Florida coaching staff not granting his request to change his dormitory in his first month on campus. According to Zach Abolverdi of The Gainesville Sun, Steele was “uncomfortable rooming with quarterback Jalon Jones” but was told that his dorm would not change until the summer session, which “upset Steele and his parents.”
Two female students accused Jones of sexual assault after a set of incidents at the dorm on April 6. The women decided not to press charges, but Jones entered the NCAA transfer portal and Steele’s name wound up in some reports simply because he was Jones’ roommate. The incidents “prompted Steele to seek a transfer, according to Abolverdi.
This marks the second time in three years that one of the team’s top freshmen will not play a down for Florida. The 115th-ranked prospect and the Gators’ second-highest ranked commitment, four-star wide receiver James Robinson saw his career end before it started due to a heart condition.
OnlyGators.com will update this breaking news story shortly.

Yeah, the QB Jones is a typical old school Gator right up there with Hernandez.
If Steele hadn't been at the apartment one night Jones would be in jail and two women raped.
Must be pretty bad when a football player can't even stand to be around him enough to share an apartment. It's not like being in a 15 X 15 or smaller dorm room.

A female student told University of Florida police that the first incident began consensually, but took a turn when freshman cornerbacks Chris Steele and Jaydon Hill barged into the room and started laughing.
The woman said she then told Jones, 18, to stop the encounter before pushing the freshman quarterback off and getting dressed. She then entered Steele’s room.

Sounds like he was wronged by the staff, tried to get out an uncomfortable situation and they said no.
I will say, I didn't hear many good things about Steele during his recruitment "headcase" came up repeatedly...this is all unrelated though.

Florida's class is falling apart. Couldn't happen to a better program.

Right after Mullen ribbed on Smart for losing Fields...then this happens.
Big time karma

Only thing I remember about his recruitment is him saying he was silently committed to LSU at one point and another program also.

This is a prime example of forming an opinion without doing your own research.

Did you even read the story?

If I am not mistaken, LSU also recruited Jalon Jones pretty hard. He looks like the bullet we dodged, not Steele.
I actually wish we had Steele if he is of high enough character to try to distance himself from Jones even if it meant possibly alienating himslef from teammates for being "a snitch" or whatever.

What a frickup by Mullen. If a player begs you to remove him from a terrible situation, you do it. If I were Steele's dad I would be pissed that such a reasonable request was ignored.
I'd take Chris Steele in a heartbeat. He can learn the ropes to better help Ricks integrate next year.

I’d gladly take Steele. Seems like Mullen is having himself some problems with the State Peniten... I mean university of Florida.

This. I wonder if O makes a call. Get Bill Busch out west and see if this kid wants to join the rest of these Cali kids in BR.
