Yesterday Texas Game Wardens filed multiple criminal charges on 3 licensed fishing guides and 12 out-of-state anglers for over-limit and undersized Crappie on Sam Rayburn Lake. The group was 208 fish over the limit with 40 being undersized. Cases and civil restitution is pending.

Saw that.

Hopefully they have a permanent fishing license ban and a hefty fine.

Good! I hope they take their fishing licenses away for the rest of their lives and put them in jail for some time.

I mean having a few over is one thing but this kind of cr@p is inexcusable.

These people are just straight crappie individuals.

I cleaned 86 one time, and it was awful. It was pre spawn at a farm pond and the kids just couldn't keep them off the hook.

I only got about 15 cleaned before the sun went down and the temperature dropped into the low 40s. My hands went so numb and hurt so bad I am still surprised to this day that my trusty wood handled Rapala didn't butcher my hands.

I have a pic of my dad and his dad from probably the 60s with a stringer of probably 100-200 crappie... guess it was different in those days

If they were 208 OVER the limit that would be (15 anglers x 25 fish/angler) + 208 = 583 sac-au-lait. If they didnt count the guides limit, that would still be 508 fish. That is absolutely insane. That has to be a multi-day haul.

And while I'm impressed by their fishing ability, that's just greedy.

How do you know how many clients were fishing? 15 seems high. 3 guides for sure. May have had 2 clients each?

“208 over” doesn’t mean any particular number of anglers- it could be 2 and still be 208 over.

Only keep/kill what you’re going to clean and eat.

I get what you’re saying but I give most of what I catch. I enjoy giving it to people who don’t fish because they’re appreciation makes me feel good.

What’s sad is those crappie will be confiscated and dumped somewhere, to go to complete waste.

I've helped clean nearly 1000 in a day many years ago in Toledo Bend. None taken on a rod and reel. I've never seen that many fish in a boat before or since.
