Best Courses You've Played In The World

Or where you really want to play.
I'm sure there has been a thread like this before, but I'm just curious to hear some places people have played, how they shot, how the courses were.
My only 'story': Several years ago, I arranged a guys' trip to Scotland. Took a 15 passenger van all over the country, and it was awesome. Myself and one other guy didn't play golf, but 4 others did and they really wanted to play a course. I arranged for them to have a 4-some at Cruden Bay (rated pretty highly in the world) in Northeast Scotland above Aberdeen. I snuck in a flask, walked the course (walking only), and it's hard to imagine much more of a unique, insanely hard, and insanely beautiful course. One of my best memories of that trip and I didn't even play.
Cruden Bay:
Where I Want To Play: I did a solo backpacking and hiking trip across Norway 3 summers ago. I was in the Lofoten Islands and wanted to hike this nice trail up a mountain. When I got to the parking lot, I noticed it shared a parking lot with a golf course (I still wasn't playing golf). Then the further I got up the mountain, the more I could see of this golf course. I thought it was so cool. Well today I go and google it, it's called Lofoten Links and it's #1 in Norway. Now all I can think about is going back and playing that course. They also offer midnight Sun rounds and rounds with Northern Lights.

I have been fortunate enough to play lots of great courses. My top three are:
1. Carnoustie
2. Golf club of Tennessee
3. Lochinvar in Houston
Honorable mention is Pebble.

There is a club in Little Rock that is really up there with the top clubs in the country(Cypress, Augusta, Pine Valley) that doesn't get enough mention. I haven't had the privilege to play it, but it's pretty amazing. It's called The Alotian Club.

It’s ranked #31 in the US

I’ve played some good tracks in the day. Chambers Bay was absolutely spectacular when I played it, and it pissed me off what the USGA did to it. It isn’t supposed to play anything like that. Valhalla was a really fun course for a major championship course. The Ocean Course is beautiful but not that much fun. I like the Sea Island courses.
My buddies and I are doing a big sweep of the Upper Midwest this summer on various weekends:
Started off with a 100 year old course called Lawsonia GC up in rural Wisconsin that golf course architecture enthusiasts nut over. Course was fun as hell but insanely hard for only ~6500 from the regular tees - green complexes were some of the hardest I’ve ever seen.
Doing a weekend at the Kohler courses (Whistling Straits, Blackwolf, etc.) in June
Doing a day trip up to Erin Hills
Doing an overnight at Sand Valley
Doing an overnight at Arcadia Bluffs and Crystal Downs (if we can get on there) later in the summer

Even people in the south don't mention this club because it's pretty unknown. Those lists are a joke. Isn't Congaree absent from that list?

Whistling Straits (Straits and Irish course)
Kiawah Island Ocean Course
Pinehurst Courses No. 2, 4 & 8
Black Wolf Run (River)
TPC Sawgrass
My favorites in that order
Never been over the pond but I plan to play The Old Course, Carnoustie and others in the next couple of years.

Somewhat surprised we have made it thus far without a Bandon Dunes resort mentioned. Pacific Dunes is other worldly. The 4 courses there are world class and completely different. The par 3 course might be the prettiest in the world.

Im dying to play Pacific Dunes.
