The Republicans playing defense are helped a ton by Trump being on the ballot.

It's also why Doug Jones is dead.

It will be interesting if the longer term demographic changes that are taking place in our country will play a part in 2020 elections. That is the decreasing influence caucasians will have and how the under 45s vote. I can guaranty as soon as the 2020 elections is done talk will begin for 2022, then 2024 etc. It's nauseating.

In 2018 more seats with dem incumbents were up for election than seats with republican incumbents. This probably helped the republicans gain senate seats.

In 2020, only 12 seats with dem incumbents are up for election, while 22 seats with republican incumbents are up for election.

As we are witnessing at present, senate control is imperative, because of court and other appointments. (The house, not so much.)

Fortunately, by their actions, the dems seem to be bent on helping the republicans win, but given the number difference, Trump is still going to need strong coat tails.

The Colorado and Maine seats are in big danger.

Pubs should be able to get the bama seat back.

I see us losing 3 in the worst case scenario

worst case scenario is we lose Maine, NC, Arizona and Colorado, but pick up Alabama

BUT, NH, Minnesota & Michigan are possible pick ups, and I think we keep NC & ME

we are in the same spot Dems were in last election with so many more seats to defend...

Gardner is dead in Colorado; which is a shame, because he's been a big advocate for that state and federal legalization efforts + gone sideways at Trump multiple time his first term. Outside of Collins, is there any moderate Republican that can win a purple state? Or is the GOP brand just that toxic in certain areas?

Last I heard on the Maine race is that no one really wants to run against Collins.

Virginia is blue forever.

we SHOULD be able to hold the Senate

Nice graphic. Thanks.

But, Romney's running.

He'll probably pull the Paul Ryan gambit, "I do NOT want to run, but I feel it is my DUTY to bow to the strong wishes of my esteemed colleagues." - some BS like that.

If Romney got on the ballot in Utah as an Indy, who wins their electoral votes on Election Day and how would it affect the overall map?

interesting question. And it could happen. But I see Romney taking a headlong run at the GOP nomination, with MSM 100% in support.

The left will have all three branches in 2021. People saying trump being on the ballot helps the gop are silly. Whatever enthusiasm gop voters have for trump will be matched or overtaken by the enthusiastic voters who hate trump.
