Not going to read the article at this moment but is that only salary or fully loaded labor cost?

Not hard to reach that in the industry if you factor in all the benefits and LTIP value. That’s the stuff that a lot of people take for granted.

How much is that per hour? That is the common thread.

Not in refining. The union guy with most seniority who scoops up all the OT might come close.
Companies aren't stupid.

And when oil prices dip (and they will), job security is gone.

And, they are largely clock punchers and subject to shitty shifts.

But, that kind of cash sans an engineering degree is something. However, their snickering about educated mgmt is misdirected. No. Your job isn’t better. Far from it.

Can confirm. I work in the refineries. Job sucks, been working 60-70 hours weeks for the past 3 months, but when I’m on 4/10s, it’s the best.

Maybe about 5% of hourly workers will gross over 200k. About 5% of hourly will gross below 100k.

No talking contractors.

Senior guy working 210 days a year will be around 150k.

Virtually no salary is making below 125k after two years.

You know good for these people. It’s a good paying job and so what if you have to put in a lot of hours. Allows them to live a good life and afford a home.

All you hear is only jobs available are service jobs, minimum wage and people just bitch about this economy all the time.

And I’m guessing they aren’t bitching about paying student loans or asking they be forgiving.

I appreciate plant baws. Pretty sure the OT would shut down without talk of them.

Plant workers are paid well because being around that shite every day takes years off your life. I’m around it every so often

Shitty smells, phosgene, leaking H2S and hundreds of more chemicals

Nobody would sit in those plants around that shite for $40k per year

good for them but that a rough life that I'd want 500k to even consider
