Lori Loughlin has refused to take a plea deal in the Varsity Blues scandal and reports claim her legal defense will state that she did not know that what she was doing was illegal.

This is going to work for her, isn't it?

Apparently, her lawyer is not aware of the maxim "ignorance of the law is no excuse"

In reality why would she? I doubt she knows what a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread cost.

I was visited recently by some very good friends who are successful and I respect. They stayed for a week. Yeah a week.

Anyway, they have tons of money and are successful and have zero clue what the world is like anymore. They live in their bubble.

I'm sure she is the same. She's innocent. It's society that has done this.

They’ve got to prove intent. If she says she didn’t know it was illegal to give money to a school to get her kid in, why wouldn’t anyone believe that? Hell, I didn’t know it was illegal to write an endowment check to get your kid in.

Unless there is proof that she knew that the person that was handling this for her, and the university representative he was in contact with were compromising the university athletic scholarship system...well...how can they convict her? She had someone handle it for her. How would she know what he was up to?

bruh, she's going to have to explain a lot of stuff that she knew...but even then, she's utterly fricked by claiming it as a donation and deduction

Huh?? Nothing in your premise draws this conclusion.

Her defence is no different than getting caught speeding and telling the officer “I didn’t know those speed limit signs applied to me in my SUV, I thought they were for 18 wheelers or something. Cant you let me off bc I didn’t understand that going 95 in a 55 was against the law”.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

the prosecution is also going to trot out all the other people involved who already pleaded guilty to testify how they knew what was going on
