This. If I remember correctly, a lot of draft boards had Jrue's player comparison to be D Wade, and. He was projected to be a 2 guard

Jrue and Dwade do remind me of each other. Both strong compact guards. Of course Jrue doesnt have the offensive ability Prime Wade had.

I think that 3 guard lineup works with brogdon because of his size/length and shooting. I do think if you have Tatum at the 4, Jrue would need a very good to elite rebounding rim protector, but then that messes with spacing considering Jrue/Smart’s unreliable perimeter shot.
Brogdon
Jrue
Smart
Tatum
Ed Davis
But I think trying to fit Smart is unnecessary. Why play so small just to get Smart in the lineup. I do think a Brogdon/Jrue combo could be potent, but I’d rather move Smart and get a versatile 3/4 tweeter (Aaron Gordon being my favorite).

Based on what you know about Jrue, what do you think he would want? Who would he value?
Players that are invested on getting better and bust their fricking asses. He wants effort above all else.

And what would you personally want to put around him if he was the guy
If hes the guy, and AD is traded. I want:
Bigs that can switch so he can trade off the pick and not be gassed at the end of games
3Nd wings
And really above all else a point guard that knows how to distribute and can shoot slightly above league average from 3

I tend to agree. I just try to figure out how to maximize Smart if he is part of the return (as of today, I would be he will be)
I think they will try to play him with Jrue in the backcourt, but I just hate that combo offensively. My hope remains that Smart and other assets would go elsewhere for a better fit, but I totally get why Griffin will love Smart's intangibles at this stage of the process

Something to remember that's obvious but still notable on any asset: Depending on the other moves, Smart can always be flipped later.

I’m still holding out hope that we can Brown to the Wizards and get Beal in return.
Beal would be the perfect backcourt mate with Jrue. Jrue would be the de facto PG sure but if you can bring Payton back as the backup then you’ve got enough guys around him where he’s almost never the primary ball handler
Deal to me would be:
Pels get Beal, Tatum, Mahinmi, Memphis pick, Boston 2021
Wiz get Brown, Hayward, Hill, sac pick and Boston 19, pels 2nd
Celtics get AD, Moore
I think we would then have enough money to offer Niko a deal to be the 4 (would fit perfect along side that core), bring back Payton, sign Dedmon, and fill the rest of the roster with shooters
Jrue / Payton
Beal / ???
Tatum / Sekou
Mirotic / Wood?
Dedmon / Mahinmi

I can't imagine Wiz saying yes to that. I can't imagine them saying yes to any trade that can be offered with Pels and Boston assets to be honest. At least not in offseason. I think they will go into next season and try to be good. If they aren't, then they move Beal in February.
I could see the Pels playing for February with assets. Beal, Blake, and others who won't be available in the summer when teams are still optimistic could become available in February. Gather up the assets, re-sign Randle to a shorter deal, etc and then strike in February when more guys are available and prices are lower.

Making Holiday "the guy" is a bad idea.
He can be the face of the franchise, he can be your captain, but on the court he's a support beam, not a cornerstone.

Brogdon is super slept on for some reason. I’d really like him here. Hard to see him leaving MIL, but he would be a good fit.
Posted on 4/24/19 at 6:44 pm to CocoLoco
The key to getting Brogdon is offering him an annual deal that matches or exceeds Bledsoe's new deal (18 mil per year). Milwaukee will know they can't match that. You offer that and then go to Milwaukee and say, "instead of losing him for nothing, lets do a sign and trade where you get a shooter in Etwaun back"
I think thats a win for both teams

Chauncy Billups was "the guy" on the Pistons but he wasn't the best player. Wasn't the most skilled player or the leading scorer most years, etc.
Its easier when you have a Giannis or a Harden, etc but how exactly do you plan on getting that guy?

It's not a knock on Holiday. He's very good. But the idea of building around him is what I don't like.
That doesn't mean I'm advocating for a blow it up rebuild. Rather, make moves for guys that fit, but also guys that will push Holiday to his more natural secondary role on the court.
I think he is a fantastic secondary or tertiary option as a creator and scorer. I don't want them to clear the roster so they can "feature" him on offense. Maybe I didn't understand the question, but that's how I read it.

No. Griffin would call him "the guy" with regard to him being the leader. The standard bearer for the culture. The way things are done. The expectations we have for other players with regard to the way they carry themselves, the way they practice, the way they overcome adversity, etc etc
Posted on 4/24/19 at 6:55 pm to Crewz
Got it. That makes sense. He is a great culture setter

Where do I sign for Brogdon for ETwaun
Posted on 4/24/19 at 8:09 pm to Pelefraan 1
Gotta remember, you are also probably giving him something like 4/75. Thats a lot of money. It also likely means you aren't taking a guard with the pick and its hard to love any of the non guards at 7 or 8. I guess you could go with Clarke, Sekou, or Hunter.
I like a lot about it, but its a lot of money for a guy who might be only slightly above replacement level.

If Griffen wants leadership he needs to bring Rondo back.
Holiday needs a be a better decision maker; his bbiq is too low.

That also takes away Jrue's voice. You want Jrue to take that role on. Bringing Rondo back prevents Jrue from having that job to himself. I'd pass. I'd prefer a Darren Collision or Patrick Beverly if they go with a stop gap guard while Cody White or Garland (or in a dream world Ja) develops

Thats what I assumed when it came to beal and Washington. They're a playoff team, they can financially make more to offset their cost issues.
If they can't, ship out beal and hit reset.
Which brings my point in another thread, there's no harm holding all the assets to start the season in a Boston trade either. Brown is the B asset that you can either keep it he plays himself into a building block or trade for an A asset in beal.
All the draft picks is how you can eventually turn your young core into a contender in 2-3 years.
Pelicans somehow land a top 2 pick this draft and I honestly believe we can contend in 3 years if AD still demands a trade.
