Social Security recipients to receive 3/4 payouts by 2035

I heard this on the Wall Street Radio program this morning, that if nothing is changed, SS recipients would only reiceve 3/4 of their benifits by 2035.
Do you believe this will happen, or some other solution will be offered?

The idea of SS is socialistic in nature, but Americans aren't given a choice as to whether the monies are removed from their checks.

Here's a puzzler for our Marxist countrymen: if you're so concerned about giving the wealthy financial breaks, why is there a salary ceiling on social security contributions, and why do Democratic congressmen never say anything about it?
This year the limit is $132,900. Anything earned over that is not subject to SS contributions.

Sounds VERY socialist

frick that shite. If I’m paying in fully my entire career, they better pull that money from somewhere else. That’s money I earned and contributed.

glad to know the $150,000 or so I will have put in up until that time will be waiting for me down the road for my retirement...
oh wait...
we've got Congressmen worried about cow farts than shite that actually matters

Not socialism, but bad investment planning. If I get it I get it. Not really my retirement investment strategy, though.

All of the politicians and all of their families who voted to rob Social Security should have to pay reparations to the Social Security recipients and their families.

More like a Ponzi scheme. Literally fits the definition, but everyone is forced to contribute.

Be careful with this - they'll lift the cap on wages, but enforce a cap on benefits. That's even more Marxism.
And the "rich" still won't pay more because they don't rely on ordinary income (like the middle class do, even the upper middle class). So, this will be yet another tax on the middle class for which they will receive a negative return.

Well the government doesn't allow citizens to opt out of the system and privately invest the money taken by SS.

You haven't put anything "in" - those are insurance premiums. I'm sorry it was sold to you with misleading language, but it is what it is.
It is an insurance program from top to bottom. It is NOT a retirement plan or an investment program. It is just wholly unfortunate that folks think of it that way and even plan for retirement that way.
And, yes, it is a mandatory insurance program (like Obamacare) that is enforced by the government at the figurative point of a gun.

Oh, I understand that we'll always be screwed by Marxism. It just seems weird to me with all the class warfare nonsense they spew that SS contributions are seemingly never brought up.

Another shining example that if you give the government money for "X" they will damn sure find a way to spend it on "Y Z 1 2 and 3"...and when it comes time to pay for "X", well then they need just a little bit more.

No because it's my money coming back to me in a sense

Well, "they" (the left) tend to argue that it is regressive (the tax falls on the lower portion of the income, starting with dollar number 1 of every paycheck), but then never argue it is a bad deal.
Frankly, the benefits fall disproportionately on the working poor and lower middle class who have statistically $0 in other retirement savings, so, frankly, it's better to have SS retirement than to not have it.
But, the boomers have really gotten over on the younger generations with this one. They were putting in $80, $100 a year in the 1960s and are pulling $20k, $25k a year in their 60s and live 20 to 30 years in retirement. From Gen-X on, our ROI isn't going to even be positive, much less that lucrative.

Just over 10 years to go before I would be eligible to collect SS, I have never expected there will anything there, after paying in for over 5O years I do not expect to be disappointed when they tell me the coffers are empty.
He who expects nothing.....is seldom disappointed.
