No. It wasn't. At least from official sources it wasn't.
Lol yes it was. Hence the reason all schools and government offices were closed.
I started getting text and emails from my kids school at 5 am this morning saying school was closed due to the threat of tornado activity throughout the day.

SPC's tornado probabilities from 1 am update. Didn't change at mid morning either. This is the forecast all the others are based on.

How many tornadoes touched down in Louisiana today? And where?
8 distinct warnings, by my count. Mostly in the Florida parishes or along the LA/MS border heading north. Basically all in the 10% tornado area from the NWS. Shocker, I know.

??
The text and emails started around 5
I actually turned the TV on around 6 and Fox 8 was predicting tornado activity across the viewing area throughout the afternoon
Why is that confusing to you?
Duke and Slakster, how many tornados touched down in La today and what are those locations?

Ahh, so you're not actually upset with the NWS, just your local school.
You're in the wrong thread.

The models were correct for the most part. It was a decent chance for severe weather and the system had some warnings in it.
The problem is the media hypes it to make you think it’s going to be a April 27, 2011 type outbreak. And it never had the potential to be and the models never showed it. Look up the SPC maps for the April 27 outbreak compared to yesterday’s.
The danger in this is the news will cry wolf too many times and people will start to not pay attention.
Big outbreaks like April 27 only happen once every 5-10 years. It takes an absolute perfect storm to create those

Where do you think the school board gets their info?

I guess because forecasters saying there's a 10% chance for tornado activity isn't them "calling for major tornados all afternoon".

You can't be serious right now. If you're getting your forecast through the filter of a 3rd grade art teacher's text message, I can't help you.
I know you like to frick around in the weather threads, but if you're ever truly interested, you'll note that the information there is far more even keeled than the stuff y'all seem to bitch about from other sources.

Especially since most of these kind of people believe there are more than two genders and cry when their candidate doesnt get elected. Cant imagine what a tornado warning does to them. Not the best source of weather information at any rate.

Hot damn theyre up to two people already who were killed while driving in the storms. What a bust. I was hoping for more death and destruction. Definitely didnt get my moneys worth. Id give this storm a 2/10.

You may benefit here by going back and actually reading my OP. The post is about what has changed.

Just a fact of life:
Even if a tornado is an EF0, yet blows down your street, it's major.
And are people really upset in this thread that there weren't enough tornadoes?
My 2 cents is that there is no reason to shut down schools, etc. days in advance.
Even if a storm is imminent, I'd bet most kids are safer to hunker down in the school building, rather than their home.

I think its more to just not have people on the streets, especially since it was gonna be a long weekend anyway and the weather was gonna be hitting alot of areas as school got out. Both people that were killed in Mississippi were traffic fatalities related to the weather.
