Brah, in East MS we helped with cleanup after an ef2 hit and fricked shite up last weekend, and we have been helping with cleanup/ road clearing all night from storms today- and that was AFTER clenching our arse cheeks for 15 minutes while it got sketchy.

I'd say they got it right. It's all relative, I suppose.

But I will say that I agree with a premise of what you are saying, and that is the ridiculousness of the mass hysteria derived from the mass connectivity of human beings nowadays: Regardless of whether or not the basis of said hysteria is contrived from sound, reasonable concepts like, say, science and meteorology, it is still ridiculous.

I went to write a check to pay for a large delivery of aggregate and red dirt today, and the sob's were closing up shop at 3:30; along with everybody else: From schools to manufacturing they were shutting it down on a Thursday afternoon due to severe weather in mid to late April...

Since when did that chit start happening? Now, is when it started happening; that is a product of our times, right there.

We are the quintessential "lots of book sense but no 'walking around' sense kind of guy."

We're smart as a whip, but we are but dumber than chit.

They blew it and scared the absolute shite out of the media addicted sheep

Tell that to the family of the person who died in Neshoba County, MS today.

God some of you act stupid as hell, the OP is spot on. Us knowing more about weather patterns along with the fact that all of you morons would be bitching if they downplayed and shite went down are the reasons for all of the early warnings and such. Social media just adds to the hysteria. They cant win with you folks. And meteorologists didnt shut everything down, blame your bosses, school boards, state management, etc., no one wants a lawsuit if shite goes down. Weather is a complete crapshoot, all they can do is tell you what the conditions are favorable for and its up to you to do with it as you will. If they suck so bad, dont pay attention.
If one person stayed off the streets today that couldve potentially been injured or killed then all of the inconveniences to you were worth it.

That’s a fun rabbit hole to go down, you can learn a lot of cool shite.
I had to do a lot of weather research lately.
Check this link out if you have time. It’s a pdf with a ton of awesome weather info you can use to really help you out.

1. Tornados are extremely isolated events
2. There were tornados, just because one didnt go down your street doesnt make it a fail
3. Those tornados killed people
4. I know its not a big deal to you but imagine if one of those people was someone close to you, would it still feel like a "fail"?

There were really only a few closings today, closing the entire state is a huge exaggeration. And how many of those were people just wanting a long arse weekend?

In the same post I acknowledged that, but the thing to do is let school out early if that’s the case.

You don’t have to cancel a day ahead of time.

And if they let kids out half way through the day, the bitching on this board would be on another level.

It's like some of you have the critical thinking skills of a door knob when it comes to weather and public decision makers.

Also, being mad at mets because school is cancelled is another level of stupidity altogether. (Not saying you said this, but others have suggested it)

Find a list of closings and then ask yourself that.

From where the majority of the posters on this site are sitting, yes it was, considering the forecast and scary predictions. Huge bust.
