Glad to see coach Murphy get the nod. Genuinely a good guy and cares deeply about the Kids, and the community. Look forward to seeing what he can accomplish

You may not care, but Livingston Parish Public Schools is the largest employer in Livingston Parish, so this decision affects roughly 4,000 employees and 28,000 students.

That therein lies the problem.

They had a couple of really solid outside candidates, for a second I thought maybe they make a hire from outside the system

Guess it’s better than the Asst Athletic Director taking over for Alleva.

Is there a reason they need to?

Which solid candidate are you referring to? The one who was late for his interview or the one who couldn’t answer questions due to lack of knowledge about the system?

Did you look into either one outside of just reading their bios in recent news stories??

Well the guy everybody really wanted didn't even apply in Steve Peril. I just felt if there were a time to hire an outsider this would be it.

Well I don't have the inside knowledge you do about all that, I do know there were was a little uncertainty this go around about Joe being a shoo-in when those things are usually mapped out well in advance.

You’re a lawyer. I think blame is the better verb here.

I kid. I kid.

Gotta keep it in house to create unneeded jobs at the central office...

I just obsessively read all the tweets that happened during the interviews since I couldn’t make it to watch. I wasn’t sure about the outsiders, but then the one dude was late, and the other admitted she didn’t have enough info to make decision. The tie tonight threw me for a loop. I knew it was close but I didn’t know it was going to rely on a swing.

Well maybe if the candidates were indeed solid candidates that would be the case. However, besides the obvious interview flaws already mentioned, his previous gig included a school system with several D and F schools, and he had to ask to be let out of his contract. He was also passed over in EBR during their last search. She is applying to literally any superintendent position available, having applied in Ascension, Las Cruces Public Schools, and currently also in Bossier Parish. In her most recent gig the board voted to downgrade her from superintendent to “consultant”. Hmmmmmm.

Neither one are candidates that I would feel comfortable handing the reins over to.

Edit: ahh I keep finding more stuff about her. In her application for Las Cruces, she lists her reasons for leaving as “seeking a new opportunity”. Yeah, I would be too, after being down graded like that.

I can assure you everybody at that central office is very much needed...some of those folks are doing the job of 2 or 3.

Obviously all I would know is what I read in their various bios, thankfully the interview and application process draws all of this out
