BOS Chairman James Williams started the movement for Woodward

I don't know James Williams, but he has gotten a lot of crap on this board for being a personal injury & civil rights attorney and for wearing an earring.
Based on the report below, he spearheaded the Woodward interest. He also declined an opportunity to praise himself when The Advocate reached out to him for comment.

The university was able to move quickly, according to sources close to the LSU athletic department, because the LSU Board of Supervisors had already secured interest from Woodward, a dream candidate conventional wisdom would have deemed untouchable at wealthy Texas A&M, which hauled in nearly $212 million in athletic revenue in 2016-17, reportedly second-most in the nation.

Board Chairman James Williams, who had known Woodward during his time at LSU, initially reached out to him about a possible deal, sources said. Woodward arrived with the Texas A&M baseball team traveled to play a three-game series from April 5-6. Williams forwarded the requests for comment about his role in landing Woodward to LSU. Spokesman Ernie Ballard refused to answer the questions in an email, saying only "this is a time for us to welcome Scott Woodward back home" and to thank Joe Alleva for his service.

His earring is sweet now

He saw us trashing him unjustly and knew he had to move.

Still doesnt cover the fact he led the Will Wade BS though...

I think Alleva throwing him under the bus helped this whole process. Fanbase attacked him. He got pissed. Here we are. I think he's redeemed himself significantly. Maybe he was never the problem.

I said the same thing yesterday. A lot of people were wrong about this guy and should own it. In his position, he had to do a lot to get Woodward here. Props to that guy.

My opinion is that Allevas incompetence thrust untrained people being forced to make decisions they weren’t qualified for. The fact the Woodward hire was so smooth points directly to Allevas incompetence

Alleva used Dellenger aka "Mouthpiece" to turn the fanbase off of him and on Williams. Backfire baby. And here we are.

A lot of posters here should be embarrassed here right now for their outrageous comments.
Many of the comments about Williams were racist and many were fiction. Some were both.
Solo Cam and others just made up stuff as they went along.
The new BOS did a good job in making these changes and immediately bringing Woodward on board.

Agreed about the racist and below the belt stuff. However, what we were told by mouthpiece, required the fanbase reaction of being angry at him. People took it too far.

The only guy who it's acceptable to have a pierced ear. Well he and MJ

This was a TD conspiracy kept under wraps. We were just making him expedite the process

Also interesting
quote:
Once Woodward emerged as a possible candidate, conversations on the board turned into a series of actions, which included keying in LSU President F. King Alexander. Asked Thursday for comment, Alexander responded in an email: “As President, I am responsible for hiring and firing athletic directors. I am happy to bring Scott Woodward home to LSU, and we are looking forward to the future of LSU Athletics.”

I take back all the mean things I said about him. Thank you James

I'm glad this is coming to light. JW took some heat on here. Good for him for making this such a smooth transition and such a huge upgrade at the same time.

But muh earring
Remember when he was conspiring to get the LSU athletic department to resemble a Wakandan small council?
