Best casting reel for under $150

I have a couple of Team KVD reels that I really like but I am not sure they still make those. You can find them online for under $100

I have no experience with the current crop of Lew's reels but I would not hesitate based one older reels I've had

A lot of options out there. More experienced folks have told me it's hard to go wrong with Shimano but I have none to give a personal reference.

Every one of the major brands makes a damn good reel in the $150 range. It's like chevy, ford, dodge at that level. People will swear by what they own but it's prettymuch just personal preference. Go hold them and see what fits your hand the best. If I'm spending your money it's on a Curado K, but I grew up fishing shimanos and that's what I am comfortable with.

Bass Pro Pro qualifier 2.0 is really good real. Was on sale for $99 a few weeks ago. I have 2 and super happy with them.
