The BCS would have never let Notre Dame burn.

That's pretty clearly from the back part of the church that didn't burn.

As they will be after this coming rebuild. But the spire which is one of the visual icons that collapsed was built in the 19th century.

I take that back then. Apparently many of the interior photos posted here are actually of other Notre Dames around the world, particularly the Basilica.
Notre Dame de Paris isn't really that ornate inside:

The pictures from above made it seem like a total loss, but apparently there are more than one level. The main part looks mostly intact. It even has a roof. I didn't know that was possible considering the reports of a total loss.

i think the roof had stone arches underneath that protected a lot of it. the stuff that burned off was a layer above the stone roof. maybe a more modern roof material
Posted on 4/15/19 at 5:35 pm to slackster
Yeah I'm hoping it was just the old wooden roof and beams that went up quickly. That inside pic looks much better than I thought it would look.

there was a report of a firefighter being seriously injured during the fire
I hope that firefighter makes a full recovery and there are no more injuries
