Just started listening and pretty impressed with their 2 albums. Pretty tragic what happened to the lead singer, but nice that the rest when on to continued success with New Order.

What are some of your favorite songs? Shadowplay and 24 hours are my top right now.

Damn bro we have very similar Joy Division tastes. New Dawn Fades and Dead Souls are top 5 for me too

Heart and Soul, Isolation, and Leaders of Men are some other personal favorites

She’s lost control

I like the way the lead singer has lost control of his arms.

this is a good example of where i like a cover version more than the original.
Galaxie 500 (one of my fav. bands) - Ceremony

great song, no matter who does it.

I may have never heard of Joy Division if it were not for Swans cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart. Maybe it's because it's the first version of this song I ever heard, but I absolutely love it.

"Day of the Lords" is my absolute favorite.

Shadowplay and New Dawn Fades round out my top three for them.

Great band. You should watch the movie "Control" about them. The dude that plays Ian is great, and the movie does a good job telling his story.

It's amazing how many bands were influenced by Joy Division: from The Cure to Interpol(who must have listened to Joy Division 24/7)

Two movies you definitely should Watch:

1)Control
2) 24 Hour Party People

Control is focused on Ian Curtis and the band

Party People examines the Manchester music scene, as well as impresario and co-owner of Factory Records and close friend of Ian Curtis: Tony Wilson( brilliantly played by Steve Coogan). It is a very entertaining film and references several acts from the late 70's and early 90's..

All of them. Day of the Lords, Atmosphere, These Days, and the others mentioned. I think it's close to impossible to listen to Unknown Pleasures and not want to listen to it all the way through.

I preferred earlier Joy Division, before Ian Curtis dropped the tone of his voice and all of their songs sounded like calls for suicide.
