I am interested in getting a bass boat, and have been more drawn to the price and durability of an aluminum hull. Who do y'all think is making the best tournament ready boat that has a strong and nice riding hull. I'll be mostly around Toledo and Rayburn areas since they are closest to me. Would a fiber glass hull suit me better for those areas?

I would get the biggest glass you can afford. I assume you are looking for used?

That is big water. Certainly you can do aluminum but glass will take care of your body better. I had an Xpress years ago that I fished some tournaments out of but did get a champion hull shortly after that rig.

Yes.

While there are some really nice aluminum bass boats out there right now, for fishing those lakes I’d go glass all the way.

Would a 19' glass boat be able to handle those lakes without much issue?
A 1-3 year old Nitro Z19 doesn't seem like a bad deal. Might look into some older 20-21' models too. Don't want to get anything to old.

I fished Toledo out of a zx190 which is 18.5 ft. It can be done, but you have to be aware. What are we talking budget wise? I love spending other people's money.

I'd say something with in 5 years of age and between 25-35k. Id like to have an ultrexx and dual 8ft power poles but that might break the budget.

That can be done around the upper end. Any particular brands?

You mentioned being tournament ready. If you intend to fish tournaments on either lake I would get the biggest glass boat possible. I have am aluminum and I fish toledo but I'm very fair weather now. If it's windy I don't go.

What's the issue with aluminum boats? I've never driven or taken a ride in one so no idea how they feel. I was just pricing some.

Heavier glass boats handle the rough water better that these two lakes are known for. He could get a big express or crestliner and be fine, but it won't be as comfortable as a glass boat. These are only my opinions.

most tournaments allow you to trailer with the exception of the big FLW and BASS tournaments. I wouldn't pass up a deal on a 18-19ft glass boat.

. I would also join each boat manufacturer’s for sale group on Facebook. For example, the skeeter parts and boats for sale page.

Very very very few bass boats have many hours on the motors. I mean most guys run maybe 30 minutes, turn the motor off, fish, maybe use it for 30 minutes changing spots, and 30 minutes back to the ramp. Pretty hard to put on heavy hours on a bass boat motor unless you are a guide or fish tons of tournaments.

Tons of 5+ year old boats out there with 300 or less hours. Many of them have 200 or less. Guys that live on the water, I mean they may use it weekly and put on 100 hours a year.

Take a look and see if there is a Pro Gator for sale. They are built in Benton La and a very solid boat, I think you'd get a lot more boat that the Tracker.

As a first time owner of a glass boat, have always been in aluminum, they ride better and don't get cold or hot like aluminum. On big nasty water you get a little beat up. Glass cuts through the waves instead of pounding on them.

Pros and cons to both though. I wanted an aluminum fishing boat but it's not just for me so got my first glass boat.

Hankl in Berwick. As close to a custom made aluminum as you will get. It’s virtually indestructible.
