Picked up my first good shotgun after only owning an 870 for 20 years...she’s a beaut!

Looking for recommendations on a fatter high res bead. I’m reading that the SBE III can tend to shoot a little high bc it’s meant to shoot more European style where you stack the beads while aiming rather than covering your target. I’ve read that having a little fatter bead can help your aim point.

Also, any recommendations on a sling? I’m in Houston and plan on going to Brileys in the near future to see what they have. But assume I can get something online just as well.

Congrats on the new shotgun. They are sweet. Look at Quake Claw slings, they are rubberized and grip your jacket. Can have a loaded gun over your shoulder while picking up ducks or decoys.

I tried a HiViz magnetic fiber optic bead. Worked great but I didn't like it. I was too distracting for me, dont need a front bead anyway. my two cents.

All available on Midway, amazon, etc

Point a shotgun. Aim a rifle. Don't worry about the bead. You'll shoot better if you don't. Shim it so that it points to where you want naturally when you shoulder it. Then go shoot a bunch of clays. If anything just get rid of the mid bead and use the front bead that's on it. Congrats on the new gun btw. Those are great shotguns

This! I never pay attention to my bead. As far as slings are concerned, there’s no better sling on the market than the Slogan Outdoors brand. Lifetime warranty also.

Look at HiVis or TruGlo for the front sight. I don't think shimming the stock helps on this gun. I patterned mine and the SBE3 does shoot high. You need to put the bead below the bird. From a bench, almost all the shot was above the bullseye. I patterned it with multiple types of steel/lead & different chokes.

Yes I agree, Point the shotgun. I actually like no bead on a shotgun. Keep the target in full view with barrel rail just under it on the swing. After about a dozen shots and you see your full pattern and wad you'll wonder why they even put a bead on a gun. I have told folks for 2 decades that these bead rails and fluorescents are junk.

Only thing I dont like about my benelli is the damn big arse fiber optic front bead. The gun is an ultralight made for wingshooting. I dont understand why they did that shite

The only thing you should be doing with a bead is using it and the center bead to make sure you are shouldering the gun correctly. Go shoot some clays and get familiar with your new gun. You will have a bad time trying to use a bead.

I have one and haven't noticed anything about them shooting high. Just point and shoot and the gun will do the rest.

I need a bead when shooting ducks on the water or squirrel hunting, besides that I'd agree. Wing-shooting it really doesnt come into play

I have one also. I recommend that you use a 4x4 sheet of paper at 40 yards With a center point on the target. Shoot one shell at it much like you would a rifle, braced if possible aiming at the center point. This will give you your pattern that will allow you to set your drop and cast with the shim kit.

You can go on line and look it up they have videos on what to do on YouTube. It’s not very difficult. If your body type does not fit the factory settings on an SBE then it will always seem like you are adjusting or the gun shoots high or L/R

That's why the big arse fiber optic they put on the ultralight pisses me off. Its very difficult to not see it

I normally see the fiber optic out of the corner of my eye while looking at the bird

It took me a lot of embarrassing skeet and doves to learn to ignore it. My first month with my brand new shotgun which replaced a beat arse 870 Express was miserable. Now I can shoot it fine but the learning curve was very steep.
