I like them but I have to wash them off under running water before eating them. I can’t handle the gelatin/slime.

Hot sauce and crackers. That’s the trick.

Ate them, and Potted Meat as a kid but haven't put any of that near my lips in well over 50 years. Use to eat both with crackers and some mustard.

One of my aunts would put hot dogs and Vienna Sausage in her red gravy to try to stretch it and feed 6 people. Yeah, times were pretty hard back then.

I also remember she'd take a head of lettuce and shred it pretty fine and for dressing, she'd put a couple tablespoons of mayo and season with salt and pepper.

Yes I like them. Maybe my taste has changed, but they don't seem to be as good as they once were. For a change of pace, try souse/headcheese and a handful of crackers. A bottle of hot is required for me as well.

My mom loved them, me not so much...However a couple of years ago I bought some for nostalgia and found that dipping them in my french fry dip (ketchup, sriracha, malt vinegar and black pepper) they're not bad for a quick snack.

its something you get used to and eventually find ok, just like with diet drinks, once your brain gets used to the taste you tend to no longer dislike it

Years ago me and some buddies duck hunting at Alligator Bayou and bought some Red Bird IMITATION Vienna sausages We heated them on the space heater in Dillard’s store to melt that gelatin so we could get ‘em out of the can. It was cold! Wish I had checked to see the ingredients .

Red Bird IMITATION Vienna sausages

I remember seeing these in the stores. Always wondered what they were made of.
Don’t know why I didn’t just read the label.
I’ll look next time I go to the store. If they are still available.
I do eat Vienna sausages when I go fishing.

My grandparents were dirt poor Arkansas farmers and I remember eating these as a kid when I'd visit. IIRC they weren't bad eating and very much along the lines of vienna sausage.

Before anyone ask my Grandfather was 86 and my Grandmother was 88 when they passed.

Love them, potted meat, spam, all that shite, grew up on it, it was often lunch in the summer, especially on vacation at rest stops, back before there was 15 options at every exit, now we got the kids eating it, no complaints

My college roommate's uncle tells a story of how he always ate them while hunting. Then one day he offered one to his bird dog.
The dog sniffed it, then turned away.
He says, "Well if the damned dog won't eat'em, why am I?"

I like getting the braunschweiger from Aldi's for days on the water. Good paired with crackers.
