1. Kevin O'Sullivan, Florida - 9.27 (1 title)
1. Mike Martin, Florida State - 9.27 (0 titles)
3. Paul Mainieri, LSU - 11.00 (1 title)
4. Mike Fox, North Carolina - 13.09 (0 titles)
5. Tim Corbin, Vanderbilt - 15.45 (1 title)
6. Brian O'Connor, Virginia - 17.36 (1 title)
7. Mike Bianco, Ole Miss - 24.00 (0 titles)
8. Dan McDonnell, Louisville - 26.18 (0 titles)
9. Dave Van Horn, Arkansas - 27.09 (0 titles)
10. Jim Schlossnagle, TCU - 27.54 (0 titles)
The only 2 coaches with more national championships during this period (Pat Casey & Ray Tanner) are now retired.
Kevin O'Sullivan is the only coach who has had more success than Paul Mainieri without dispute, and even that is by a slim margin.
I just wanted to provide some facts for all of the fans who think we should fire Mainieri and hire one of the coaches who achieve better results.

What is it if you do it from 2010 onward?

CPM seems to have lost his fire, but he gets a pass from me, especially in light of his father passing last week.

Funny how it gets better
I think people forget starting in 2012 means we get rid of our bad 2011 season and are left with almost exclusively seasons that resulted in a national seed. We have been as consistently elite as any program in the country. It’s sad this has to be explained every March

I guess LSU fans just need to accept baseball just isn’t going to be as entertaining as it once was

I'm glad my last name isn't schlossnagle

As usual we are in complete agreement, my friend. Well said here, again.

College baseball in the 90s was a different animal than it is today. National seeds almost every year are as good as anyone can ask for. Would be nice if they could capitalize on it, if we won the cws championship game like we were favored to do in 2017 and had a 7th title just more than a year ago no one would be talking about Pulmonary being on the hot seat right now

2011 wasn't even that bad. We just got screwed by the selection committee. 2018 was actually worse from a final RPI perspective. Which was 29. Which was Mainieri's worse finish since 2007. By the way, Kevin O'Sullivan & Florida finished at 48 in the RPI in 2013.

What a fantastically informative thread. Thank you for gathering this data.

Oh. And they are also at #35 in the RPI right now. And 17-10 overall. And 1-5 in the SEC. Compared to LSU at #29, 17-8, and 4-2.
So we're going to fire the coach when the only other coach with better results over their tenure is currently having an even worse season than we are...

Those stats tell me you have a better chance of winning the CWS if your coach doesn't have a Top 10 RPI

I don't think he should be fired.
He should ride off into the sunset...

Les Miles had a pristine resume when he was fired at LSU also. Should we have kept him too? CPM has an even bigger advantage at LSU baseball than Miles did, LSU is a top 10 program in football, LSU is the top program in baseball. LSU baseball is Alabama in football or Duke in basketball the only difference is LSU’s baseball coach isn’t competing at near the level that the other 2 programs are.
